The knife

As I was running after the assailant, I screamed. "Put back the things in the hidden compartment and place the wooden plank on it."

I ran outside and saw no one there. I stood there for a second and then ran toward the forest in front. The assailant just vanished into thin air. I did not go to the forest. Because it was already night and due to the darkness, I could not see anything.

I did not even have a torch light. I was feeling scared. I kept staring at the trees for a minute. Then I went back to the police station. When I entered the police station, I saw Robert and Alberta standing there. The moment I saw my parents there, I felt as if the ground had given way beneath me. My hands began to tremble with fright. My tongue dried up.

“I am dead. I am dead” I whispered.

As Alberta saw me, she rushed to me, wrapped her hands around me, and hugged me tightly.
