Chapter 1: Prologue

The universe and it's funny way of working never cease to amaze me.

Just how can these people be so stupid?

I find it extremely deranging that almost 90% of the time, people lose all their senses after a round of booze and just sign away their freedom.

Just like that, a simple agreement and their lives are completely ruined.

Who's to blame in this kind of situation? The man who does the scamming or the one who gets scammed?

Of course I am not one to talk...

I said between two sips

The man sitting next to me replies with a gloomy middle aged drunk man face.

I said setting my glass on the counter before turning to face the said gloomy man. I said look more sincere than ever.

responded the man fisting his hand on the counter

I smirked

The man followed me outside the bar and into the alley. And there under the rays of moonlight I extended a hand to him

The man protested barely holding his ground because of all the alcohol he's drunk.

I replied

The man shouted

I snorted at the man acting like a teenager I took a step closer

Once again I extended my hand, Eyes gleaming as I looked down on the man

And then with a cold low whisper the man shook my hand back.

A moment of silence followed by the howls of the man crouching in pain.

I said a broad smile on my face.

The man howled in pain as his veins slowly turned dark with each passing moment.

The man tried to let go of my hand but I squeezed it tighter I said in playful tone

At that moment, the man's body crumbled into a pile of dust leaving nothing but a small shiny globe floating in the air.

I reached for the globe and crushed it and whispered to it and then with a blow the dust tuned into shiny specs of light and the light turned into a mirror and the mirror turned into a person.

I said

The man didn't say a word and that was the answer I was waiting for And then with a wave of a hand The man turned into glass and the glass turned to specs of light that slowly vanished without leaving a trace.

I sighed at how boring this is starting to become.

I suddenly felt a wave of nostalgia, staring at the rays of moonlight as I quietly reminisced my memories of a long lost life.

I used to be a normal College Student, top in my class majoring in law at the prestigious Thawyer school. I had a promising future which I fought REALLY hard to get, between class, group studies, part time jobs, I barely had anytime for me.

Of course it all blew on my face when the cruel reality as we knew it suddenly decided to change.

That's right, we are living an era of post apocalypse~ Believe it or not, some of one awakened incredible powers whilst the others are living like rats inside fortified cities.

You would think ~Cool! Adrian, you are an awakened, your life must be amazing like those webtoons!~

The answer is NO! ITS NOT!

The reason is I DIED! I AM DEAD! well technically dead but that's just a temporary situation...

To explain this I'll need to start from the beginning; The 12 of December at midnight. 12/12/12. That's the date everything changed.

Scientifics called it "The SuperNova". A major celestial event which tainted our beautiful blue skies to a purple shade perfect for apocalypse mood setting.

Towers immerged from the ground like giant obelisks made of unknown material.

Creatures -- that until then only existed in books and games-- Swarmed our world.

They either attacked us or offered to help us in exchange for territory and food.

Humans, threatened to go extinct awakened super powers and abilities; The birth of magic.

Some people couldn't awaken any kind of power and either died a miserable death (Most likely decapitated or swallowed whole) or lost their pride and became workers for the awakened doing all sort of odd job for protection (Farming, Cleaning, etc...)

You would ask me how I died...well...

As sad as it is to admit and say it out loud, I died in a coma.

The moment the sky changed, half the none awakened instantly fell asleep.

A disease called "Death Sleep". Doomed to never wake up ever again.

The reason behind the death sleep is unknown, some say that we couldn't bare the sudden change of climate and radiations, some said it was the mercy of god for us to not witness the end of the world.

No one knows the answer behind that and of course no one cares. Because in the end, every "Death Sleep" patient ended up dying a miserable peaceful death on bed.

Speaking from personal experience, I died a miserable death betrayed by my friends and family on my death bed.

Despite being in a coma, I could see and hear everything around me -- I am not sure How I am supposed to explain it but it felt like I was "Astral projecting".

I watched my parents (Who by the way awakened formidable abilities like my siblings) sign away papers and my friends watched it unfold quietly from the sidelines.

I was unplugged from reanimation and was left to die right there in front of them as they watched the last beats of my dying heart.

I knew it, for a very long time that my relationship with everyone is platonic, that my death would be just as insignificant as that of a fly, hell a pet's death would bring about more sorrow.

But to actually get betrayed by your supposedly close ones hurts like a bitch.

I murmured to myself as I walked down the street.

So much has changed after I was brought back with a purpose. It was shocking at first but I found it quite easy to adapt with the current situation.

It's scary what a couple of "Blessings" and a crazy personality could get you.

The buzzing sound coming from my pocket brought me back to reality.

I couldnt control it but my expression darknened

I stopped Infront of a shop window and stared at my nonexistent reflection.

The moment I came in contact with it, the solid surface turned liquid opening a gate to my new found home.
