Overlord Body

Zhao Song looked at everyone arrogantly, having just declared his intention to beat them all.

Tang Hao, Zhang Li, Sun Ming, and Liang Chen were among the strongest students of the academy, and as such, were fiercely arrogant individuals. Being looked down on in such a manner put a smile on all their faces.

"All at once, lets end this quickly." Zhao Song said nonchalantly. Tang Hao, Zhang Li, Sun Ming, and Liang Chen were infuriated and stepped forth to teach him a lesson.

Jiang Ting also frowned. Senior brother had never been such an arrogant individual. Also, such a sparring competition had also not existed previously. Was this the ripple effect of him staying on the mountain for two more years? Perhaps seeing his true talents was what made senior brother more subdued in the first place.

However, there was another issue to be addressed. Since when was senior brother strong enough to take these 4 on all at once?

At that moment, Zhao Song attacked. His martial art was the Overlord Body. The emphasis of the technique was on indomitable offence. As such, Zhao Song's moves were wild, and he immediately suppressed the other four, with all of them stepping out of his range, unwilling to really trade blows.

It was quite obvious that Zhao Song was stronger than any one of the four, and the gap was quite big, yet the fact remained that he couldn't really defeat them in a group fight. Sure enough, ten moves later, Zhao Song slipped up. What followed was a brutal beating from the academy's top talents. Jiang Ting stood to the side, looking at Zhao Song with disdain. 'Why would you, who could dominate them in individual combat, go and invite a thrashing like that?'

The fight having ended, everyone quickly returned to their own sparring. Zhao Song got up, covered in bruises, and said to Jiang Ting, "Let's go to the library."

Jiang Ting stared at him for a full minute before saying, "Sure, but don't you need to get yourself looked at? I mean, they really did a number on you."

Zhao Song started walking towards the library, "Nah, I'm just fine."

Jiang Ting started following behind him when he noticed a girl dressed in purple martial artists' training robes. sparring with another student. Jiang Ting was slightly surprised. Such a beauty would become well known in the academy, regardless of her talents, yet he seemed to have no recollection of her whatsoever. He made a note of this anomaly and decided to ask somebody later on.

* * *

The library was currently deserted, with barely a dozen people in it, as opposed to the scores of academicians studying there at all times. Two figures walked through the doors right then, their bulky figures standing out from the few frail-looking scholars studying there.

Jiang Ting frowned as he looked around. "Senior brother, shouldn't there be more people here?"

Zhao Song kept walking unfazed as he explained, "The concept of sparring day isn't limited to the martial wing alone. All three wings of the academy are holding a monthly student interaction event to let them learn from each other. So, the scholars who usually crowd up the library are all at their own events right now. We can go take a look at the musicians or painters later if you want."

Jiang Ting was quite surprised, such things never existed in his previous life. Especially since the headmaster was always busy with his cultivation, the academy had basically no interference from its administration, and the students basically utilized the learning resources on their own terms.

"Senior brother, from my understanding of the master, he shouldn't be taking a proactive approach to administration. Who started this practice then?"

Zhao Song sighed. "Our master is indeed a lazy good for nothing when it comes to administration. Fortunately, when the ancestor set up the academy, he had the foresight to ensure that whichever wing provided the headmaster, would also have to mandatorily appoint an administrative chief for their wing during the tenure of the headmaster, so as to reduce his burden. Our administrative head is a core elder named Xia Mo. He's looked after the martial wing well, and brought forth the concept of sparring day. After I dominated sparring day five times in a row, the other wings were inspired by me and set up their own equivalents of sparring day. Anyways, with the administrative elder's foresight and my greatness, sparring day became a success."

Jiang Ting took a deep look at Zhao Song. He wondered if senior brother really believed his own nonsense. He then sighed. "The ancestor, huh. The legendary figure who established our village, the academy and let our nascent village grab a foothold in the Qilin mountain range. He must have handled all the academy's administrative affairs, as well as the village chief's affairs, while also protecting the village and fighting for its existence and status both. To think that he had the foresight to anticipate such issues back then really is a testament to his ability."

After saying this, Jiang Ting fell into deep thought, 'Xia Mo, huh. That elder was indeed very competent, always looking for ways to take the academy forward. Additionally, he can also be considered one of the top powers in the village, having a deep cultivation in the 4th stage of body forging realm. Unfortunately, he is very advanced in age, thus he probably won't make it to the 5th stage of body forging realm. After all, even with me bringing some higher-level resources to the academy, he always rejected any help resolutely, leaving the opportunity for improvement to those with greater talent.'

Such a selfless elder giving his all for the advancement of the village was someone even Jiang Ting had massive respect for. Of course, his reasons for this were also something Jiang Ting deeply understood. The same reason for the village chief and the headmaster's determination. Those who had been through that incident fifty years ago were all determined to strengthen the village in their own ways.

The village chief carried the mantle of chief to work hard to make the village prosper while Xia Mo and the core elders focused on training a stronger young generation while increasing their own strength, so that the headmaster could focus solely on his cultivation. Everyone who was at the incident 50 years ago was doing their very best.
