A few hours later...
"Are you sure she'll come?" One of the henchmen looked a bit unsure, scanning the empty road ahead.
"She will," the leader in the suit said firmly.
PA!
The suit guy got hit by something and stumbled back a few steps.
"There's an invisible person! Shoot!" The suit guy was the first to pull the trigger.
DADADADADA...!
PA!
The poor guy at the back got punched by the invisible person, then they snatched his gun and hit him with the butt, knocking him out.
DADADADADA...!
By the time they realized someone was unconscious, it was too late. Everyone, except the suit guy hiding by the car, had holes in their foreheads.
During a break in the invisible person's shooting, the suit guy tried shooting back, but he only managed to disarm them. The invisible person pulled out another concealed pistol and fired back, forcing the suit guy to keep hiding.
Suddenly, she felt the door behind her open, and she quickly turned around...
Michael and Hudson were being dragged out of the car by two invisible people!
The suit guy raised his submachine gun, ready to fire.
BANG!
The invisible person he was previously wrestling with shot him in the forehead. He didn't expect the invisible person to be so quick.
He fell to the ground, life and blood slowly draining from his body.
"Can you guys pay attention, please?" The invisible person who shot him revealed herself to be Janice.
"If it weren't for my ability, how would you have saved them?" Gordon also revealed himself, and the iron sand swirling around his hand was the secret to their invisibility.
"Alright, let's get them out of here!" Lily struggled to drag Michael, worried that backup would arrive soon.
They struggled to carry the two big guys into the alley, gasping for breath as they sat on the ground.
Gordon used the iron sand to stop the bleeding on Hudson's wounds.
"She can't be far away! Hurry, find her!" A well-covered black-clad man with a submachine gun spoke.
"These guys arrived way too quickly!" Lily complained.
Gordon quickly used the iron sand, covering both the big guys, the two girls, and himself.
Strange, why didn't invisibility kick in?
"Level 4 abilities are unstable, now I get it," Lily shrugged.
"They're over there!" Another black-clad man aimed his gun at them.
DADADADADA...!
All the black-clad men pulled the trigger. Gordon had to use all the iron sand to create a shield, successfully blocking most of the bullets. A few got through the gaps and hit Gordon.
"Throw a grenade!"
"No, it'll cause chaos! Keep shooting!"
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Janice's three bullets hit three enemies, but she ran out of bullets.
"No more bullets!" Janice crouched down, avoiding the bullets.
"What about spares?" Gordon asked.
"None left!"
"Then take this!" Gordon kicked the submachine gun near Hudson towards Janice.
Janice caught the gun, stood up, pulled the trigger, and then crouched down again. "Damn it! I ran out of bullets!"
"Let me handle this!" Lily couldn't hold back any longer.
"OK! HERE WE GO!" Lily jumped up and gathered the wind around her, creating a tornado that she directed towards the enemies.
Even if the enemies dodged, they still got caught in the tornado and were blown away, bullets included.
"My turn." Gordon formed the iron sand into a stick and charged towards the enemies.
DADADADADA...!
Gordon noticed several bullets flying towards him, so he channeled his inner Sun Wukong from "Journey to the West" and deflected the bullets back at the enemies. Those who were missed by the bullets got knocked out by Gordon's stick.
Lily hadn't been this excited in a while. With the enemies behind her, she controlled the wind around the other two off-road vehicles and threw them backward!
BOOM!
In the explosion's glare, Lily looked like a female warrior with her stylish bob cut, making people forget she was from a wealthy family.
"How was that?" Lily smiled at Gordon like a child.
Gordon could only smile wryly, then he fell to the ground, unconscious.
"Gordon!" Lily rushed to her brother and carried him on her back. "Seriously, don't push yourself when your abilities reach their limits! Let's go, Janice."
FIU!
"AAA!" Lily suddenly let out a strange cry and convulsed, falling unconscious as well.
Janice realized there was a sniper shooting electric bullets, so she turned and ran, utilizing the darkness to escape to the end of the alley. She jumped onto a trash bin, then over the wall, moving swiftly.
She knew assassins and mercenaries had a moral code: never kill anyone other than the target. That's why the sniper must have mistaken Lily for her, leading to the gunshot.
"WU!" While she was thinking, a man covered her lower face with a cloth, and another man grabbed her hands, preventing her from struggling. They also took her gun.
Janice saw they were dressed in suits, likely special agents sent by some country to study her abilities.
Her breathing gradually calmed, her consciousness becoming hazy, and the surroundings started to blur...
PA!
A heavy punch landed on the man behind her, waking Janice up. The guy who got hit headbutted the wall and passed out.
The other man swung a fist at the brave person who saved her, but Janice's gun handle hit his face. Then she kicked him into the trash pile.
Under the neon lights, Janice recognized the face of the brave person.
...!
Wasn't that "HERO," Alice Justin, the one who taught Brian a lesson at the execution ground last time?
"What's your purpose?" Alice looked at the man like a judge examining a criminal.
"..." The man pointed the gun at his chin and pulled the trigger.
"Never mind, you explain," Alice turned to Janice but suddenly looked up at the ceiling, as if she saw something.
There was nothing, or maybe, there used to be something.
