CHAPTER TWO: ANCESTRY (2)

"How about there? Did you find something interesting?" The voice from the other side of the call startles him. Claude quickly gets a grip on himself. He wants to keep it a secret, but the more people know about the Pure Blood vampire he encounters today, the more troublesome this information will be. Recalling the golden pair of eyes, Claude informs his superior of the less concerning news.

"Maybe? I found some werewolves. Cubs, most likely." The Acardia lived in a villa in the north estate of Canelis. The woods and forests were a part of their family inheritance. It's normal for most of their descendant to live in the countryside as a pack.

"Do you get their information?" Another question appears as Claude sends a few documents to his superior. The line becomes quiet. Claude feels uncomfortable and tells him about a 'human' born into that family.

"Yes. It's only a little uncomfortable to share, Vice President. I already send you the documents, Sir."

"What do you mean?" Hearing that inquiry, Claude remembered the young boy looking back at him with empty eyes. The boy then stared at the vampire's ashes as if looking at something irrelevant. He opens his mouth as he speaks quietly. Fortunately, his superior managed to hear his words.

"A pure blood vampire. True blood. He was born into a family of pure wolves." Both lines went silent as they processed the information. Most mythical creatures have gone extinct or gone hiding because of their appearance. It's a different case for some species like vampires, werewolves, demons, and witches. They most likely retain their human forms, allowing them to blend into human society.

They want to make a difference. When more people are aware of mythical creatures, society will be safer. The project that they develop must continue to progress. Every year, the hunter's organization will pick a classroom from the countryside to attend the Valentine Academy.

They will learn about mythical creatures in this school for an entire semester. The witches will erase the memories of students who can't keep their secrets and returns them to their old school.

"I see. What about your judgment about this 'project'?"

"I don't think the class exchange is a good idea." Acardia's long ancestry is from the marquis lineage of the werewolves king's clan. Their existence at Valentine's will catch a lot of attention and the establishment of a new faction. To both mythical society and hunters, the problem is Dennis Acardia. Dennis's eyes were crimson. They can only be found in old records of vampires. His authority might be the same as the vampire king.

"A pureblood. Not adopted, twins. Did he attack you?" A vampire born from a werewolf, even the Vice-president choked on his tongue. He's not an illegitimate child. Based on the DNA test of both parents, Dennis is their child. Unfortunately, they thought he was human.

It's a form of disgrace for a noble clan like Arcadia. They abandon him without giving him a reason. No one sees this coming. Not even the entire Acardia clan. If they knew that child was a pureblood, they might use him for their benefit.

"No, but he has total control of his ability. Even I thought he was just a normal human." The fact that the child can hold his thirst and grows up as a pureblood without guidance means he is a new pureblood. His gene mutated. But from what? What happens in his DNA? Why did the vampire genes appear in their ancestry?

"New blood, then."Thinking that Dennis is an original pureblood, he should have no relationship with other vampire nobility lineage. He will become a leader of a clan. They called this species new blood. The pureblood in the vampire society has red eyes. But, Dennis's eyes are crimson red. His blood is black. He is a true blood. If pureblood is kings, the True blood is the Emperor.

"Sir, what should we do? For him to make a noble vampire kneel, he should have at least been an S-rank." It's horrible enough that his bloodline is pureblood. The actual ranks should be amongst the SS class. If that child goes berserk, the whole hunter's society will be in chaos because of him.

"Alright, I-" Realizing his superior voice halts, Claude holds his breath and clamps his mouth. He listens to a sweet voice from the other side of the phone. He secretly hears the conversations between the siblings. Both of them were his brother's grandchildren. Unlike him, who lives a longer life for a human, his brother passed away a long time ago. He doesn't want to have children.

"Brother, I was planning to invite a few friends. Oh, you're talking on the phone. Sorry, brother." She has the sweetest voice that he heard. All of the fatigue drained from his body. A gleeful smile appears as he tries to listen.

"It's fine, Anna. Just do whatever you want." Hearing her presence was no longer there, Claude asks Eric about his sister's condition. Adrianna has blood that attracts supernatural beings around her. They plan to protect her, but Claude wants to give her freedom like others despite her inheritance.

"Have you found any bodyguards for her, Eric?" Thinking about the unusual amount of attacks last months send chills down his spine.

"I just found some of them. I hope they will be more reliable. Claude, you have to keep this a secret. The fewer people know, the better. Not even the higher council must know about this." Eric hurriedly changes the topics. Claude realizes he doesn't want to talk about Adrianna.

"Sure, he lives through horrible life. I was planning on adopting him. What do you think ?" Claude thinks that maybe, instead of letting that child live like that, he can take care of him. Rather than using that child, he can guide him.

"Ask for his consent first and tell him about the supernatural society. At least, he was aware of his inheritance. Give him some blood tablets. We will put his identity under my name and insert his data under classified documents." Eric is right. Blood tablets were necessary. That's why he needs information about the vampire in the system.

"Yes, Sir. Good night." Putting down the phone, Claude watches over the full moon. He remembers his sister-in-law's oracle. The girl that she mentioned is Adrianna.

"A child, a girl from my bloodline, will suffer from love. Don't let her fall in love. It will bring her to her demise. Protect her."

*****

Coughing out some black blood, Dennis tiptoed into the orphanage and went to the bedroom. He enters his room and leans back on the door. The voice keeps shouting at him. His head gets dizzy. The moonlight passed through the window as he stared at the glowing moon.

'Wake up!'

'Wake up!'

'Remember! Awakens your blood!'

'A new era for a new Emperor!'

His sight turns blurry as he falls into the darkness. His body feels cold. The last thing he remembers is the sound of the howling wolves.

*****

Dennis stands on the same snow. A butterfly suddenly appears as it guides him to an oak door. The sound of the breaking plate caught him off guard. It's a memory. Two young boys were standing in the kitchen. The golden pair of eyes and brown hair. Why only his hair is black? It was his brother that dropped the plate. Why is it he who gets punished instead?

"Go back to where you belong!" Senia Acardia, the current wife of the Acardia clan patriarch. She has wavy brown hair and golden eyes. She wore a long blue dress, hugging his son as she glared at him. Dennis stands next to the broken plate.

A mother's hand that should provide warmth and gentleness, only filled with anger and rage. Her face flushed as she shouted at him. Dennis just holding back his cries. They will send him back to the orphanage again soon. He tries hard to become like his brother, but his parents don't accept him. He didn't understand.

"You're nothing but a disgrace to the Acardia family." Noah Acardia, the current patriarch of the Acardia clan. He stood next to the two of them and scorned him. A cold pair of eyes stared at him with disgust. A father should give his child protection, but what he gets from this man is only pain.

His heart has broken into pieces. The curses and the piercing stare creep into his skin as he tries to stop himself from shivering. He looks at the child in front of him. Pleading with his brother to protect him.

"Brother? I wished you die." His body is covered with scars. A brother is a comrade, a companion, and a friend. What he receives is only despair. He is betrayed by the one who should be with him. Dennis gives up.

Dennis looks at the memory as he realizes how foolish he is. They are a family, but he was just trash in their eyes. Looking at the eighth year's old child, Dennis finally laughs. He understands now. The reason why he didn't fit with them. A human. A weakling. A useless being.

"You're not useless. You're stronger than them." The butterfly turns into a woman with blonde hair. She has the same voice as the voice in his head. She didn't look childish at all. Still, she smiles brightly as she meets him. Dennis stares with confusion.

"A vampire. They are werewolves." If both of their parents are werewolves, his ancestor is the same, right? He sees a pack of wolves running through the forests under the bright moonlight. Something tugs his heart. Dennis stares into the woman's silvery gaze.

"Well, you should ask Uvlios about that. But, you won't be able to meet him. None of us can meet him again. Ah, you can call me Dosdite." Trying to forget everything, Dosdite smiles and laughs. Uvlios' sacrifice might affect Evenar's reincarnation this time. She wants to tell Uvlios his brother will be fine, but she knows he can no longer reply to her words. Her time was almost over. She will assist Dennis in awakening and let him choose his path.

If he meets Ariel's reincarnation and falls in love, happiness will come for him. Until that moment arrives, she will hold the child's hand and help him."I can't tell you anything about Dion, but I will tell you everything about the supernatural society. It might be better if you attend Valentine's Academy. You should try later."

"Valentine Academy?" Valentine? The once known as vampire city in the old generation? He knew it was a prestigious academy in Valentine, but it was an academy for supernatural creatures?

"A place that you should belong. Those dogs can stay in the forest if they want to. You are different! You're born to hold a crown and stand above all! How can you compare yourself with a bunch of domestic dogs? You have the noblest blood among all existence. Don't you think it's weird that vampire is the only species that nearly push human to the brink of extinction?"

Based on folklore stories, vampires are the only creatures who manage to push humanity too far. They even establish their city. "Valentine City used to be where the Vampire king resided. See, instead of those bastards, you are much better!"

"They are not that bad." Thinking about how much Dosdite tries to protect him, he feels warm. Dennis is scared. The awakening is necessary. He must face his memories. He knew how horrible they were.

"Of course. I have nothing against werewolves, but your so-called parents pissed me off." Dennis smiles happily. This is how it feels to be protected. It's not that bad.

"I see. Thank you, Dosdite." He can only thank this woman

"Sure. Let's go and open your memory door. I will be on your side. Don't worry." Holding their hand together, Dosdite leads him to the mahogany door.
