18. Awakened Academy

Jiwoo pushed Eunwoo's wheelchair along many corridors until he stopped in front of one room. The faculty had instructed that due to short notice, the twins will have to share one room. Not like they minded because it was still difficult for Eunwoo to move around on his own.

Jiwoo moved ahead to put in the password and when he opened the door-

POP!~

"Welcome!", the four unaffiliated kids welcomed him making him smile brightly at them as he returned the greeting.

"How are you feeling, Jiwoo?"

"I heard you were so seriously injured that you had to stay in the hospital for a long time."

"We couldn't reach you, and you were off the grid. Do you know how much it scared us?"

The kids spoke about their worries. Jiwoo responded to them, "I didn't want to worry you guys. Plus, I had so much going on..."

"How are you now?", asked the green-haired boy.

"I still need to work on my recovery, but I'm over the worst."

"That's a relief." The blonde yanked him inside saying, "Hurry in. We prepared a surprise party knowing that you were coming."

"Oh right wait a second", Jiwoo said and moved out of the room now standing behind Eunwoo who blinked at the four kids in confusion.

"We have another unaffiliate kid?", asked the red hair boy. "Do you know him?"

"Yep. You guys, meet my brother, Eunwoo", Jiwoo said getting inside his room.

After a moment of silence, the kids shouted.

"You had a brother?!"

"Now that I notice, you both look somewhat alike."

Jiwoo claimed, "That's because we are twins."

Eunwoo slightly bowed to the four awkwardly introducing himself. "Nice to meet you. I'm Eunwoo Seo."

The kids cheerfully greeted him back and introduced themselves. They sat on the floor near the couch while Eunwoo sat on the couch as they ate snacks and chatted.

"If you don't mind me asking, Eunwoo what happened to your legs?", the blonde asked.

"Actually, Jiwoo and I were caught in the same accident."

"If you guys have fully healed, is it okay for you to train?"

Jiwoo answered, "I can't do anything that requires using awakened power, but I'll try other things carefully. And Eunwoo is still receiving treatment for his legs so he can practice using his awakened power."

"Don't push yourself too hard", said the black-haired boy.

"Hey Eunwoo, what's your awakened ability?", asked the green head.

Eunwoo smiled politely responding, "I'm sorry but don't think it's appropriate to just tell about your abilities."

The redhead scoffed. "You both are the same. But wait who is the older twin?"

"The difference is just 10 minutes so it doesn't matter", Eunwoo said. Honestly, he wished he was reincarnated as an older brother rather than a twin but whatever.

"He's saying that because he is younger, isn't he?", asked the redhead with a smirk on his face.

"That's right", Jiwoo cracked up at Eunwoo sulking.

After the unaffiliated kids left Jisuk, Subin, and Wooin came to deliver the news of the world awakened academy which only resulted in all of them getting restless.

After the three kids left with Jiwoo to train, Eunwoo brought out his notebook in which he had designed diverse weapons we wanted to work on. There was so much he wanted to do and yet so little time in his hands.

Since he had mastered developing daggers, shields and a couple of guns, his next aim was to make twin swords. His guns had 20 bullets each before they went under cool down for two minutes. With Kartein's force control, he had practiced blending his shield to make it stronger.

He practiced force control and since Kartein's power was something similar to light manipulation Eunwoo took this opportunity to be creative and integrate it with his ability. With an awakened power such as his, he needed to act creative and smart. He thought of creating a bow and arrow but chose swords instead. The justification was that when fighting one-on-one such a weapon didn't suit his style.

Eunwoo practiced his force control to make it into a healing ability next paying no mind to the two cats entering from their nap. He had noticed the fragments of healing ability in the force control and decided to practice them individually.

While he was focusing, the two cats observed him silently.

"I didn't expect him to catch on to the healing ability so soon", Kartein said breaking the quietness.

Kayden joined in, "I'm sure you want to see how far he has come."

Kartein nodded looking at the young boy who was now drenched in sweat. His breathing was heavy and his eyebrows frowned. He continued for another few minutes before deciding to take a break after almost three hours of force controlling.

Kartein got in his human form to train him and test him on his improvement.

"I see you've started practicing healing", He said with a small smile on his face.

"Oh, yeah but I've gotta admit, it's much more exhausting..."

"You'll get used to it", he said before piecing his index finger with his nail. Blood dripped from the wound.

This caught Eunwoo by surprise, "Wh-what are you-"

"Try healing this."

'Ah... So he wants to see how far I've come. This shouldn't be too tough since the cut is rather small', Eunwoo thought.

He nodded before holding Kartein's palm. The older looked down on him as Eunwoo concentrated with his eyes shut. In ten seconds the injury had healed on which Kartein hummed in pridefulness.

"Not bad for your first time. You have to keep practicing it though."

Eunwoo beamed in delight before nodding.

"Looks like you have a talent in healing, kid", Kayden commented still in his cat form.

"What else do you expect from my apprentice?" Kartein said proudly. Next, he proceeded to teach the young boy how to strengthen his shield.

Kartein noticed that even though Eunwoo was intelligent and had a remarkable grasp on force control, he was very creative in making his weapons by using his ability. His ability was strong in itself but the only problem was that his physical strength was weak and because he had never seen him fight hand-to-hand combat, he wasn't sure if he knew any techniques. Such being the case, Kartein focused on strengthening his shield so that he could avoid injury in utmost cases.
