40. Earthquake

BAM! CLASH!!

It was three members of the Frame which included Earthquake as well, who claimed to have come to kill all the students. The vice-principal betrayed the academy for ten years and was now trapping all the instructors and the principal in an unbreakable shield which was set to disappear in 30 minutes. The students in the arena tried to escape when their professor Andrea turned out she was from Frame as well. She attacked the students as they tried to run but the shield was formed around the arena as well.

Right! The Frame! How could I forget that?!! The most unfortunate thing is that I don't know how everything will end!

While I was lost in my thoughts, Earthquake went behind Leah and said, "You're in the must be killed category."

Just before Earthquake's attack hit her, Jiwoo got her out of the way which got everyone stunned. The Frame members were arguing among themselves to finish off the students soon.

Shit! He's trying to buy the instructors and the principal time. But holding on for 30 minutes is not easy!

Jiwoo and Earthquake attacked each other and most people thought that he was being foolish.

"He's not doing it to win. He's doing it to draw all the attention toward him so he can buy time." I said as Gangseok looked at me with troubled eyes. "Guys, we've gotta step in in some time."

Jiwoo kept running and dodging his attacks. "That damn speed of yours is a real nuisance", said Earthquake as he stretched his arm to get the young boy. But just then the rest of the kids attacked Earthquake to divert his attention from Jiwoo.

"You little rats...", Earthquake angrily snarled. "I will make every one of you beg me for death."

Before anything could escalate more, Gangseok stepped in and directly attacked Earthquake which didn't leave even a scratch on him. Just as he was about to attack them, Leah formed a shield to protect them. He angrily attacked the white-haired girl and since her shield was being used to protect Jiwoo and Gangseok, she was left defenceless. I hurriedly formed a shield around Leah as she stared at me with an astonished expression.

"Ha! You little... Fine I'll give you a chance to fight for your lives but just remember that you'll only end up dying in the worst way possible."

At that everyone from our academy except me, attacked Earthquake together with all their strength but to no avail. I was analysing the situation along with collecting all my energy for one attack. Sorry Mr Kartein, but I'll have to use a new skill sooner or later.

"BHAHAHAHA", Earthquake laughed. "What's with your faces? Did you think you could do any damage with your punny attacks? To a world ranker like myself?" He powered up and I could feel the atmosphere change in a second. "Now... It's my turn."

"You're specialized in close combat using your power", saying that in a split of second, he punched Gangseok. The young boy was critically injured that didn't have the strength to get back up. Earthquake continued saying while smiling maniacally, "And all of you were ranged attack style."

He attacked in our direction but Leah formed a shield to protect us. However, his attack pierced through the shield. My shield wasn't fully formed but still, we got injured.

"GUYS!", Jiwoo exclaimed, wanting to help us out.

But Earthquake wasn't done yet. "And you... used your high speed in close combat."

Saying that he attacked Jiwoo but he was able to dodge it again. Feeling anxious, Jiwoo decided to give in his all with a final skill.

"FOCUS!", Professor Andrea warned Earthquake. "Though it was for a brief moment, I'd also lost sight of his moves."

"Tsk. You just spolied the fun."

"Would you rather miss his moves and get smacked by a little kid like that? My spoling just saved your ass from getting ashamed in front of everyone."

"That skill of yours must be pretty useful, huh? Go on, I'm waiting."

Before Jiwoo attacked, Jisuk used the wind to make Jiwoo lighter and faster to move, Subin trapped his legs so that Earthquake couldn't move, Wooin used his power to attack his head and I used my golden chains to bind his arms so that he couldn't defend himself.

Earthquake got annoyed and tried to break the chains. "You and your useless shitshows...!"

Jiwoo attacked with his max speed with all he had but Earthquake broke through the chains and ice and was left with only an injured arm. Every student was left shaken that even such a strong attack couldn't do him any harm.

Earthquake yanked Jiwoo's hair angrily. "I'm a world ranker... How dare you come at me, you little rodent... !" He grabbed the back of his shirt and slammed his upper body hardly on the rough ground.

SMACK!

He again kicked his chest.

"JIWOO!"

Hurriedly I formed a shield around Jiwoo since that one slam had gotten him severely injured. Earthquake hit the shield but this time he didn't pierce it.

I got away from Jisuk, Subin and Wooin before Earthquake said, "Tsk! You little rats never learn, fine. Let's see what you've got." His creepy smile gave me goosebumps but I focused on giving my all in one attack.

"Finish him quickly. We don't have much time to waste", shouted Andrea.

"I guess you're no threat since that 'professor' didn't warn me this time. Why would you want to die so soon then?"

Ignoring him I collected all my power with my arms raised upward. One chance is all I have. The huge ball of energy in my hands turned into a giant sword which floated in the air. The sword was bright golden in colour. My pale green eyes glared at Earthquake while I brought my arms forward. It was difficult to maintain my shield for Jiwoo and do this skill at the same time, which Leah took notice of. She covered Jiwoo in her shield and the rest attacked Earthquake again to divert his attention.

Sensing the right moment I attacked him with all I had. "Ughh...", I could feel the bones of my arms break because of the intense pressure. The floor beneath my feet was cracked.

There was a bright light as the Sword hit Earthquake. I assumed he'd think I would aim for his vital parts, so I went for his lower body instead, as it would at least slow him down.

"Ahhh... fucking shit...", Earthquake grumbled.

Once the bright light was gone and I had used up all my energy, I fell to the ground because there was no strength in any of my muscles. I looked to see Earthquake's condition and he didn't look good at all. His right foot was injured and his face told me that it would be better to run now.

He angrily walked toward me and kicked my shoulder which sent me flying to another corner of the arena, breaking my shoulder in an instant. I grunted in pain.

"EUNWOO!", I heard the rest call out.

"You fucking rat don't know your place, huh?", Earthquake spoke up angrily before stomping on my right thigh.

"ARGHH...!"

"Let me teach you what happens when you pick a fight with a world ranker! I will kill you in the most painful way!"

He pressed his foot on my chest ultimately breaking a few ribs. I screamed in pain as blood dripped from the corner of my mouth. I heard him tsked as my eyes tried to take notice of all his actions but my vision was getting blurry and dark.

He took off and went back to Jiwoo. With a single punch, Leah's shield was shattered. He was about to stomp on Jiwoo's chest again.

NO! I've gotta move! I have to put up a shield for hyung...!

"Say your goodbyes", he said but before he could hit Jiwoo again.

PZZT PZZZZTT!
