"Your room is very cosy but wow are you two are different." Mason said observing me and my sisters different aesthetics. I put on 'not around by nova' on low volume. We'd finished getting ready for the day and luckily when we'd made it into the house no one was here. I deleted the voice message the teachers had left for my foster parents because why do they need to know?
"Which side do you like better?" I asked him.
"Probably your side. I'm not just saying that because well duh but genuinely you do have good taste miss ash."
"Miss Ash? Gosh that name is low-key kinda shit."
"How dare you disrespect the best last name ever made!"
"You don't think your own last name is the best one? You seem like the type of person to absolutely be obsessed with themselves. Just an observation, but I can't sit and lie your last name is pretty nice, don't say shit about this but I wouldn't mind being called liana gray." Immediately after I said that the 'oh fuck' realisation hit. Why would I say that? It's like I actually wanted drama today.
"Well well well! Miss Julianna Gray! That has a kick to it, I'll call you that from now on, thank you thank you for that brill idea mon chére."
"I am actually just gonna hope that you're joking about that because trust me I can't be dealing with rumours as silly as 'oh liana and Mason are together'. No thank you."
Mason cleared his throat before he started to speak, "Miss gray I hope you know this but if you don't, I'm pretty sure that has already made its dinner, I'm pretty sure that has already cleaned up the dishes, I'm pretty sure that has already made its way down to the damn bedroom and Liana Liana I'm pretty sure that has already made its bed."
"That sentence was extremely detailed for what? One little 'I'm pretty sure that's already made it's bed would've been just fine.' Just a little thought."
"Well this makes me passionate Liana, our lives are now in the hands of other people."
"Omg imagine if we pretended to be a couple and won prom queen and king as a joke. And at prom we do the big reveal and anger everyone?" I jokingly yet stupidly suggested.
"You are the smartest person I know Mrs Gray, you know that right?" He said in a calm serious tone.
"I was joking, sorry but I can never fake date anyone. My foster parents have this friend but her now husband and his brother basically made a bet with their friends to get with her. Like shit that must've hurt. I know it's not like that but I can't fake it."
"Damn, why'd she marry him?"
"Well did I mention he's a billionaire? But he actually fell in love with her unlike the other brother. I think you'll know them, their story kinda blew up a bit in Italy."
"Note to self, become richer than rich."
"Don't, I don't care about money, if that personality don't come through then what do you think this is? Personality over everything, your looks help but can't keep the love going forever."
"Well, from that comment then I'm guessing I'm special enough to be on your good personality list?"
"Mr Gray all I have to say to that is that you are not so bad yourself okay? I can tolerate you, take that as a compliment. Now I'm hungry and I want food but there's no food in the fridge."
"Oh please shut up, I'm going down and making something. I know a thing or two about food and cooking. I can make anything with nothing."
I shrugged at his words, "If you say so." We both stood up and made our way downstairs to the kitchen as the song drowned out.
. . . . .
"Now there isn't a lot that I can actually remember from my childhood but I must say that one of them was when my gorgeous mother taught me how to make things with what you have." He said looking through the fridge, he started to grab certain items and began working. "This will be worth waiting for trust me."
Within under 20 minutes, Mason pulled out this absolute gourmet meal to me. It was this gorgeous looking brioche French toast and honey mixed with maple syrup with two scoops of ice cream with some mini strawberries on the side that just smelt so good.
"Rate it 1 to 10." He said anticipating my response. I took a bite of it and wow wow wow. It tasted just as good as it smelt and to think he'd only made this with practically nothing?
"You know you should honestly be a chef, what am I on about I bet you eat this stuff all the time. It's a 1000."
"Thank you for the 1000 but I don't really wake up to this stuff. I like the casual cereal."
"If I was a rich person, I just know the kitchen aspect would be just amazing, I'd make sure of it. By the way don't you wanna eat something?"
"You got cereal?" I nodded at his question and continued on eating. Maybe, just maybe Mason Gray isn't so bad?
