She turned to him, her eyes sparkling under the starlight. "You planned all this?"

He shrugged lightly, slipping his hands into his pockets. "I just thought… we haven't had much time for just us lately. Moments like this feel so rare." His voice softened as he added, "I wasn't sure if you'd like it, though."

It was true—Jiang Yue rarely talked about her preferences, and he'd never asked. Their relationship had always been swept up in the rush of their separate lives, stolen hours here and there before they were pulled back into their respective worlds.
