A week had passed since the first-year students completed their military training, and campus life had returned to its usual rhythm.
For most students, it was business as usual, but for Jiang Xiu, an additional commitment had been added to her already packed schedule—the pageant practice.
Every two days, participants were required to attend rehearsals in the campus gymnasium. With her coursework already demanding, this new obligation left her with barely any time to study.
It was lunchtime, and the cafeteria buzzed with the usual chatter—students discussing their classes, exchanging notes, and enjoying their meals.
Jiang Xiu, however, was barely paying attention. A book rested in one hand, her plate of food untouched, and the spoon in her other hand hung limply.
Noticing this, Jiang Yue reached over and took the book from her grasp. "Eat first," she instructed.
Jiang Xiu frowned but, seeing it was her sister, relented with a small nod.
