The Merman Empire group stayed for a week before heading back.

As they left, they all looked at me with guarded looks as if they still didn't trust me.

At the same time, it seemed that the Merman Queen was saying something private to Ariel while looking at me from time to time.

It was clear that she was telling her to be careful of me.

I had been able to convince them that their worries weren't founded, but it seemed like they didn't want to take any chances at all. They had even deployed a few of the mermaid royal guards to stay here on land to watch over Ariel.

Though the excuse that they gave was that they were here to help her.

It made sense since those members of the mermaid royal guards were female in the first place. They seemed more like maids rather than royal guards, but there was no mistaking the aura that they released.

One was able to easily tell that they were skilled with the dangerous aura that they released.
