Chapter 37: Madly in love

"No, Mia Hughes, I never liked you. From the very beginning, the one I loved was Jessica, and only Jessica," said William, looking at her. "I didn't care about your antics all these years, and I didn't want to deal with them. But Jessica is my bottom line, and she's the one you can't touch. If you touch her even a little bit, you're touching my bottom line. So, don't you know what you've done wrong?"

Mia shuddered and couldn't stop crying. She collapsed on the ground, realizing that she had lost everything.

Meanwhile, William quietly watched her, his handsome face without any ripples.

She should have known a long time ago. Only Jessica's tears could ever move him. Even if they were just faintly hidden in her eyes, he would feel breathless just by looking at them.

It was only much later that William realized that this was called heartache.

When the person he loved was in pain, he too felt that same pain.
