Lucas then counted the chains surrounding his soul.
"And why are there seven of them?"

Lucas smiled, but Lilith accepted the pouch and left it in her hand. Only now she was aware her dark clothes didn't even have a single pocket, and it was created in a messy way. She swore to buy new clothes later with the money she had… no, she must ask Lucas permission before daring to spend it only for her self benefit.

"No, it's more than enough," said Lucas. "I really appreciate your kindness and compassion. I hope you will remain as it is and will not hesitate to help people in need."

Lucas wanted nothing but to continue teasing them, and their reactions only further pleased him. Growl really was trying hard to hold back his tears, and Lucas's words only made him feel a sharp object piercing his heart.

He was kind and always helped people in need… but forcing him to help them out of his goodwill was a completely different thing—not even talking about giving his whole money and his subordinate just to… help?
