HOSPITAL

Mirabella kicked the door open holding back tears in her eyes, she walked straight to her son and stared at him, with her hands trembling.

"What is wrong?" John asked as he held her arms and looked straight in her eyes which were holding tears in them.

"Neo." She whispered and the tears finally dropped from her eyes.

"What happened to him?" He asked again.

"He told Diva everything, he told her what happened ten years ago."

His hands dropped and he sighed heavily.

"Diva accused me of everything that happened, telling me I am the cause of it all." Mirabella sniffled. "She said if I hadn't reported to her parents, the case would have been different."

"Are you being honest?" He had a doubting tone in his voice.

"You can ask Neo." She wiped her face with the back of her palms. "I saw the both of them in his room."

John frowned. "What did you just say? Who and who? In whose room?"

"By the time I entered, I saw Neo sitting on his bed and Diva sitting on the wooden chair, he even placed his palm on her lap, and the craziest part of it all was that he had just a towel round his waist."

John put his hands into his pockets. "I will deal with the both of them later, but what were you doing in Neo's room in the first place?"

The question made Mirabella frown heavily. "Am i not allowed to work as i wish in my house?!"

"No one is saying that, but to avoid any form of suspicions or doubts."

"Diva came to my room earlier, she asked me to tell her what happened ten years ago, so I walked her out rudely, and after a while I started looking for her to calm her down-"

"And you went to Neo's room to look for her?" He asked again, suspiciously.

"Anne told me she saw Diva walking into his room, so I went there out of curiosity."

"Oh!" John exclaimed calmly. "You brought in this lady yourself, what do you suggest we do to her now?"

"It's high time we kicked her out, but I can't because of the next share holders meeting, she is our only hope."

"Why did you reduce uncle Richard's allowance? I also heard you reduced almost all our spendings by about thirty percent or so, where is the money going into?"

Mirabella looked around the room, she pointed to the door and her son, understanding the message, locked the door. "Since when did you find out?" She asked when John arrived at her front again.

"For about a month now."

Mirabella exhaled sharply. "Do you think we can hold on to this company forever?"

John didn't utter any word, the question travelled very far and wide in his head, he wondered why his mother would ask such a question out of the blue. "Why are you asking?"

"I mean, look at your uncle, he is bent on taking it away from me, I still don't know why he hates me that much? Because I am not educated? Or because I practically killed his brother?-"

"Stop it mom." John held her hands. "I have asked you to put your trust in me, I will never let you down mom."

"Won't you ask me what I plan on using the money for?"

"The hospital?" He asked too.

Mirabella laughed briefly with surprise. "How did you know?"

"I have heard you mention it a few times, you want to make Anne in charge of it when it is time?"

"Yes." She nodded.

"What about me? What will happen to me? How do you think I would live my life then, if you leave the company to those people?"

Mirabella released her hands from her son's then sat on the chair close to her.

"We are not leaving this company for anyone." John moved closer to her and bent towards her. "This is your husband's company we are talking about here-"

"We weren't even legally married." She interrupted him.

"But at least he is my father, my own and real father, is there anyone on earth who can try to fight that?"

"John."

"We are not leaving this company for anyone, you make me the head of this company and leave Anne in charge of the hospital-"

"What are you doing here?" A voice asked from outside. "Can't you hear me? Why were you eavesdropping?" The voice asked again.

John and his mom, exchanged short glances and walked out of the room. Anne and Neo were standing out the door.

"What is going one here?" John asked.

"I saw this young girl eavesdropping on the both of you."

"There must have been a misunderstanding somewhere, Anne has no reason to eavesdrop on anyone." Mirabella paused. "Especially me and John."

Diva joined them and avoided eye contact with Mirabella. "What's going on?" She asked John.

"What were you doing in Neo's room?" John asked with a straight face.

"I went there to ask something." There was fear written all over her face.

"So, it couldn't wait? That you had to go over to his room?" He asked again.

"It was urgent, very urgent." She walked in the room.

John put his head down gently, obviously trying to control his temper. He giggled and raised his head. "Neo, I see you as a friend, please be very careful."

"I'm so sorry sir." Neo was sincere.

"It's time to fire him." Mirabella whispered looking at Neo with contempt. "I don't find myself comfortable around him anymore."

"Mom, it was j-"

"Will you like to pick between me and him?" She asked yelling, with her eyes wide open.

Diva walked out again and faced Anne. "Was it true you told her that I was waking into Neo's room?"

"What?" Anne asked with a confused look.

"Didn't you tell my mom you saw Diva walking in to Neo's room?" John asked too.

Anne looked at Mirabella for a moment or two, then nodded. "Yes, I did."
