Chapter 39: Getting Mackenzie away

“Here’s the plan. I’ll walk through the checkpoint first. As soon as I do, you tell the security guard, in a very hushed voice, that there is a man following you. Tell him the man is wearing all black, and that you think he has a gun.”

She risked a glance behind them. “Will that work?”

“It will give us a little time.” He said. “That’s all we need. We’re not out to kill them.”

She looked at him. Made steady eye contact as she spoke. “That’s a relief.”

The comment confused David enough that he almost fumbled with the gun when he slipped it up his sleeve and popped out the clip.

He didn’t expect the casings to set off the metal detector, but he was ready to toss the clip up and down his sleeve to avoid the hand held version if need be.
