Chapter 13: Writers Write

“Because I wanted you to write,” she said. She put her fork down. “It’s important that you write, Steve-o. Right now, that’s all that matters. It doesn’t have to be good; it doesn’t have to be important or structured. I don’t have to see it. All that matters is that you write it. The more you write in a day, the better. But right now, this early in the stages of things, I don’t care if you sit down and write jokes you’ve heard in a bar for three hours. All I care is that you sit down and write.”

Steve raised his eyebrows and nodded. “Okay,” he said. “So you told me to write a topic just so I’d have something to focus on?”
