Chapter 30: Dialogue

“Do you like your dialogue?” She raised an eyebrow at him. She loved that she could do that. Once, when she was a little girl, she’d spent time actually practicing to make sure she could. All because she’d seen someone on television do it, thought it was supposed to be sexy, and so had forced herself to learn so she could do it to boys. Of course, that was before she even realized why she wanted boys to think she was sexy in the first place. But it was a skill she had learned, and one she’d kept through to her adult life.

He blushed, turned away a bit. “No,” he said, “not really. It feels, I don’t know, wrong.”

“Well, it’s good that you can see that. We’ll work on how to get dialogue right later today. I just want to make sure you see the problem and are willing to fix it.”

“I want to make it sound like the way yours did in your book,” he said. “By the way, how’s your new book coming?”
