Chapter 33: It would be nice to be happy

If he had any feelings of bitterness, their relationship would be over. There was nothing holding him to her, nothing to really connect them, other than the fact that she was working on his novel with him. She was helping him learn how to write. How do you teach someone to write? You can’t really do it. It just doesn’t work. You can teach them tricks, you can teach them techniques, but you can’t teach how to actually do it. All you can do is encourage, put them on the right path. Whether or not they could actually do it, whether or not they actually pulled it off, how could you ever possibly know ahead of time?

And there was nothing to connect them. If she was wrong about him, if he really couldn’t do it, then there’s be nothing at all, and she’d probably never see him again.
