Chapter 41: Montana no-shows

Normally, Montana arrived by about nine o’clock, just an hour after Autumn came on shift. He would show up at nine and he’d leave around twelve or one. It was a nice routine. She’d gotten used to it.

But it was ten thirty and he hadn’t shown up yet.

There were other people down the bar, other regulars that she could talk to. She didn’t know any of their names, but some of them looked depressed. She could handle them complaining, probably. And, given the outfit she was wearing, she was more likely to have to deal with them flirting with her anyway.

There was just something about a tight t-shirt that had a v-cut made with a pair of scissors down the front that just seemed to grab men’s eyes.

As the thought occurred to her, she caught Ian out of the corner of her eye. So the shirt would grab most men’s eyes.

As she worked, she kept looking towards the door, expecting Montana to walk in any time, and hoping he would.
