Caroline
There’s a pounding I can hear, but I’m unsure if it’s coming from my dream or from reality. It gets louder, more insistent the closer I get to waking up, and I come to with a gasp. It’s then I realize it’s reality, and someone is trying to get in touch with me. Reaching over, I grab my phone, there are fifteen missed calls from Taylor.
Immediately my heart is pounding because I know something is f*cking wrong. I run to the front door, throwing it open. Standing there in front of me is my best friend, tears running down her face.
“She’s gone, Caroline. She’s gone.”
And she collapses in my arms. I hold her tightly, telling her that everything will be okay, but I just don’t know. I don’t know that it will, because I have no answers for her. There’s nothing I can tell her that can make this better.
“What can I do for you?”
All I want to do is make it better.
