Chapter 2：Being Chased

Tianjian Sect is one of the ten major immortal sects in the Xuanhuang Great World, specializing in sword cultivation. It is a holy land for sword cultivators to aspire to and enter.

The young Daoist who blocked Mu Xuyang's way was a disciple of Feijian Hall of Shengjian Sect in Tianjian Sect. The leader of the group was their eldest senior brother, named Zhan Yaoguang. Beside him was a thin and weak-looking young man, their second senior brother, named Dong Qing.

Zhan Yaoguang and the others looked at Mu Xuyang for a moment after blocking his way, and saw him wearing tattered clothes, holding a trembling old yellow dog, and felt somewhat curious.

After sizing up Mu Xuyang, Dong Qing turned his head to Zhan Yaoguang and said, "Senior brother, this beggar looks suspicious. Perhaps he obtained the treasure that fell from the sky and is afraid of being discovered, so he came down the mountain at night."

"It's unlikely, but we cannot let someone escape with a treasure under our noses," Zhan Yaoguang nodded, then pointed his sword at Mu Xuyang and asked, "Quickly confess, why did you come down the mountain at night?"

"My dog is sick, I'm taking it down to find the village doctor," Mu Xuyang knew that this world was much more dangerous than the one he used to live in, and if he wasn't careful, he could end up getting killed. He quickly answered.

"Just a sick old dog, if it dies, it dies. No one will care. It's puzzling why you would risk coming down the mountain at night to find a village doctor," Zhan Yaoguang smiled and continued, "but we're not interested in that. Did you see the scene where the treasure fell from the sky when you were on the mountain?"

"No," Mu Xuyang shook his head.

"Throw the old yellow dog on the ground and come over for us to search you. Once we confirm that you don't have what we want, we'll let you go," Zhan Yaoguang ordered.

Being searched was difficult for Mu Xuyang, even though he was just a penniless beggar. He hesitated and didn't immediately go over.

Dong Qing, who already found Mu Xuyang's behavior suspicious, became even more suspicious when he saw Mu Xuyang hesitating. He carefully observed Mu Xuyang and the old yellow dog in his arms.

After his gaze lingered on the old yellow dog in Mu Xuyang's arms for a moment, he felt that there was something peculiar about it. He even caught a faint trace of water-based energy emanating from the dog's mouth.

"Senior brother, there's something strange about this old yellow dog," Dong Qing said, uncertain about what was going on with the dog.

He looked at Mu Xuyang and said, "You dirty beggar, playing tricks in front of us? You're looking for death. Quickly take out the treasure from the old yellow dog's mouth and present it to us humbly. We'll spare your life."

"I really haven't seen any treasure. Ah Huang got sick because it was calling out to that despicable guy, and he sealed its ability to call out with blue light," Mu Xuyang explained truthfully.

"Don't waste any more time talking to him. Let's just snatch the old yellow dog, cut it open, and everything will be revealed," Dong Qing said.

Upon hearing that Dong Qing wanted to snatch the old yellow dog and cut it open, Mu Xuyang couldn't bear to see the old yellow dog, which had been his companion for many years, die in vain like that.

As soon as Dong Qing finished speaking, Mu Xuyang immediately hugged the old yellow dog and ran into a nearby thicket, fleeing into the distance.

"That despicable guy wants to escape. Chase after him!" Zhan Yaoguang, Dong Qing, and the others thought that Mu Xuyang was afraid that they would take away the treasure he had just obtained and so ran away. Without any hesitation, they quickly chased after him.

While running through the thicket, Mu Xuyang realized that the body of a young beggar was not useless at all. Although he looked thin and malnourished, he was actually very agile. In just a short moment, he shook off Zhan Yaoguang, Dong Qing, and the others who were chasing him.

After shaking them off, Mu Xuyang continued to run forward for a while before finally stopping and finding a deep thicket to hide in.

After waiting in the thicket for about half an hour, Mu Xuyang heard the voices of Zhan Yaoguang, Dong Qing, and the others cursing and grumbling in the distance.

"There's only one way down the mountain. I hope these guys chasing me don't know that, otherwise, it'll be difficult for me to go down," Mu Xuyang thought, feeling both nervous and helpless as he saw the faint figures searching for him through the gaps in the thicket.

Although the mountain was not big, even for those with the ability to fly with a flying sword, it was not easy to find someone hiding in a thicket in a forest full of thorns.

As he neared the exit, Mu Xuyang saw two guys holding iron swords guarding the path down the mountain. He wasn't too worried or afraid and carefully made his way through the thicket, inching closer and closer to the exit.

When he was about two meters away from the two guards, Mu Xuyang stopped and decided to hide with the old yellow dog, patiently observing and waiting until he was sure that only these two guards were guarding the path down the mountain. Then, he quickly emerged from the thicket and rushed past the guards before they could react, running along a relatively wide muddy road towards the town at the foot of the mountain.

"Senior Lin, the little beggar that just ran past was the one that big brother and the others were looking for. Quickly use the messaging talisman and send an emergency message to big brother, telling him that the little beggar has escaped down the mountain and gone to the town." The skinny young man only realized that Mu Xuyang was the one they were looking for when he was almost out of sight. He quickly told Lin, another young man beside him.

"Okay, you go chase after him first. I'll send the messaging talisman and catch up with you later." Lin responded, quickly taking out a yellow messaging talisman and a piece of spirit stone. He crushed the spirit stone and infused the weak magic power it contained into the messaging talisman, triggering it to send an emergency message to Zhan Yaoguang, Dong Qing, and the others. Then, he rushed out to chase after Mu Xuyang.
