Chapter 9: Hunter Profile

After hearing Mr. Zeng Gong's blunt words, Frank Lee wasn't in the best of moods. He sat in his chair for a few minutes, feeling the weight of the conversation. His mood was soured, and he found he no longer had the energy to continue watching the sitcom he had been enjoying. With a sigh, he stood up and walked to his room.

There, he grabbed his computer and placed it on the table. He took out his bag, retrieving a file full of documents. Slowly, he opened it and pulled out a stack of papers. Sitting back down, he began to go through them. The first few pages contained general information about the Hunter Association, including guidelines and other relevant data. As he flipped to the next page, he found a document with his own profile, based on the latest assessments.

He read through his profile carefully. He had expected some changes, but when he looked at the details, he noticed the improvements. The numbers weren't massively different, but to a hunter, any increase in stats was valuable. He remembered how different his first profile had looked when he first became a hunter. It was a far cry from what it was now.

The changes weren't drastic, but the subtle improvements were important. He knew that once a hunter reached the peak of their abilities, stats stopped improving, and the only way to grow further was through better equipment, training, and gaining battle experience. For Frank, it meant that he had a long road ahead of him.

He put the profile down and reached into his bag. There was something else at the bottom. Pulling out a purple and white card, he inspected it. It bore the Reader's Guild logo, with the three swords and a snake coiling between them. His name was written on it, along with his signature and other personal information. The card also featured his guild affiliate number.

He remembered his first card, a blue and white one. The color of the card indicated the status of the cardholder, and he had progressed from a beginner to something more. After a year, the card would change to red and white, and for every five years in the guild, an extra star would be added. The color variations signified rank—blue and white for beginners, red and white for more experienced members, and stars to signify longer service.

Frank knew there were higher ranks too. The silver card was for standard members, and the gold card was for those who had contributed significantly to the guild. The platinum card was for those with high-ranking positions. He suspected that Mr. Tai Tang Young had a platinum card.

These cards had their perks—better access to missions, better exposure, and other benefits. But nothing compared to the ones issued to official guild members. The colors of the cards might vary between guilds, but the official ones were all the same, save for the logo.

Frank Lee placed the card on his laptop and inserted it into the card reader. Immediately, the guild's website unlocked. The familiar interface appeared on the screen, asking him to input his password. After a moment of calm, he typed it in.

The website opened to reveal the familiar sections: newsfeed, guild, missions, member list, equipment, and encyclopedia. Frank scrolled through the pages, feeling a sense of familiarity. It had only been a few weeks since he had joined, but it felt good to be back.
