BEING THE ONLY MALE IN THE ROOM
"Oh, that painting was made by a famous artist from France. He made that painting specifically for my mom when she visited there last year," Jack replied with a smile.
"Impressive," Lily said.
He grunted in agreement and they proceeded to the dining room.
The dining room is a work of art in itself, with a long table set for twelve under a magnificent chandelier. The walls are adorned with oil paintings in ornate, gold frames, adding to the grandeur of the space and creating an atmosphere that's elegant and noteworthy. Lily could only look in wonderment.
They proceeded to the kitchen, Jack told Lily that his mom was busy cooking, and they shouldn't distract her while she was working.
Rosa looked up and saw the both of them, she smiled and waved to them. The kitchen is a chef's dream, equipped with the most modern appliances and spacious marble countertops that make meal preparation a breeze. A small seating area overlooks the garden, providing an intimate spot for the owner to enjoy a morning coffee or a late-night snack. Lily smiled and waved back at Rosa.
They proceeded to the outdoors, the outdoor area is a stunning display of natural beauty, with a large infinity pool that seems to spill into the ocean below. A manicured lawn shaded by tall palm trees offers respite from the sun, and a gazebo provides the perfect spot for a sunset cocktail.
Lily looked around in awe at the view, "You grew up rich didn't you?" You are really lucky, she commented.
Jack's mood darkened, "Who wouldn't be lucky? When your dad is a mafia boss and he hurts people for a living and I have to deal with that reality every day of my life." He thought to himself.
Lily noticed the dark look on his face and wanted to ask him what was wrong when Rosa called them for dinner.
Rosa Jack's mom called them to come for dinner. Lily clamped back her words and they went to the dining room.
Rosa introduced her two friends to Lily, "This is Calita and this is Annita, my two friends who are closer to me than my sister.
Canita and Annita are two women in their late fifties who are good friends with Rosa, Canita is dark-skinned, while Annita has a fair complexion but is tanned due to the Mexican sun. Canita is taller than Annita. They were still looking beautiful and had been Rosa's neighbors for a long time. They are likely close friends who share a lot of memories and a deep bond.
Lily could see the bond between this woman, they also looked kind. When they started talking, she found out they were wonderful people to talk to.
Jack was feeling awkward being the only male in the room, he wanted to rush on his food and leave them but he also didn't want to draw the women's attention to himself, he wanted all the attention to remain on Lily.
The women in the room had a great time eating and talking about their different lives and experiences.
While Jack was miserable.
