The Family Grows

Chapter 15: The Family Grows

As we settled into retirement, Emily and I started to think about our legacy and what we wanted to leave behind.

We had always planned to live and die alone, but we had ended up with a wonderful family of friends and loved ones. We wanted to make sure that we could leave something for them, to show our appreciation and love.

We decided to create a scholarship fund in our names, to support students who were pursuing careers in healthcare. We had both spent our careers in healthcare and knew how important it was to support the next generation of healthcare professionals.

We also started to think about our own family. While we didn't have children of our own, we had grown close to our nieces and nephews over the years.

We decided to host a family reunion, to bring everyone together and to celebrate our love and connection. We rented a cabin in the mountains and spent a weekend cooking, playing games, and reminiscing.

As we looked around the room, we realized how much our family had grown. We had nieces and nephews who were married with children of their own. We had great-nieces and great-nephews running around, laughing and playing.

We realized that family wasn't just about blood, it was about love and connection. We were grateful for the family that we had created, and we knew that our legacy would live on through them.
