[Christian Armstrong]
"I told you not to disturb me when I am with her! Didn't I?" I asked my beta, Kingston.
I was going to follow Trisha, I don't know what I could have said which would have convinced her to forgive my heartlessness, but at that time I had only one thing in my mind and it was to take her back in my arms.
But before I can follow her downstairs, Kingston had stopped me. It was too late to reject his request for me to stop because she was already gone—with Dominic.
'Fuck' I yelled in my mind.
"It was important Christian! I need to inform you of something," He said urgently.
That got my attention.
Inhaling deeply, with a last look at the car speeding away from my pack's territory. I shake my head to let it go this time. She needs a little time to herself. I will see her later.
"Let's talk in my office," I asked Kingston. But he did not move.
"Are you stuck? Why are you not moving your ass?" I asked him.
He rolled his eyes at me. If someone else had done it, I would have made sure to tear them apart, as rolling their eyes is considered disrespectful. But Kingston is my best mate, Kingston, Dominic, Fenris and I have been together since we were born.
Live together, die together. That's what we had promised each other.
"It's not an office where you are needed, bighead. We are summoned to the trespassing area." He told me, I finally got the reason for his urgency.
"Had Binnie's cat bitten your tongue before? Why have not you told me sooner?" I taunted him, flipping him off on the back of his head.
Walking downstairs, I started to remove my clothes to shift.
While shifting, the body of the person is twisted unnaturally as bones reshape and cause the person immense pain, but it happens only on the first shift.
Now my shifts always come naturally to me. ard of practice and the dominant nature of my wolf.
As I shifted completely, the paws of my wolf touched the earth. I heard the pleas of my wolf.
"Mate," My wolf, Akela, howled.
'Calm down buddy, someone has summoned us, our mate is fine." I assured him.
He understands his duties. Within seconds, we were speeding through the forest.
Even though I have assured Akela about our mate. There was a nagging of my senses. It was an odd feeling. There was something that was not quite right.
Blaming my conscience for misguiding me. I focused on the current matter on our hands.
Mind linking to Kingston, I asked, "Where are you ?"
As I became closer to the trespassing area. My wolf caught a very sweet scent, extremely sweet and icy to where the smell burned my wolves' noses. Bleach is the comparison for it.
I immediately sense the danger, they were around. Those leeches are near my territory.
The tough made my wolf see stars in rage. He sped up while howling loudly, calling his packmates.
By the scrunching sounds of paws hitting the leaves scattered on the ground, I knew that our brothers were not far behind.
In minutes, we reached the trespassing area. Sure enough, three unfamiliar vampires were standing there.
I shifted into my human form mid-way, I need to hear what they have to say for coming close to my territory.
"Who sent you?" I growled my question at them.
The three of them looked calm. Two vamps who were most likely twins and a blonde She- vamp.
The She-vamp came a little forward to acknowledge my question. "We mean no harm, we are just finding our lost one," She explained with both hands slightly raised in surrender.
At this point, Kingston, Fenris and Xavier reached us, staying behind but alert for if I need them.
I raised a brow in a questioning manner, "We have no leech at our place, you are searching in the wrong direction," I taunted her. The vampires hate when we call them leeches. So, just for the fun of it, I did it anyway.
She bared her fangs at me, stepping forward in a threatening manner. But her companion, the twin with red eyes, holds her back. "Stay calm Veronica, If you continued to behave like that, we will never find her," He reasoned with the vamp—Veronica.
Veronica flipped her gaze at me, before stepping behind, giving space to the twin for him to talk with me.
He craned his neck, giving me a pleasant smile. "I am Eric, see we don't want any trouble, we are just looking for one of ours, we caught her scent here," He explained. His twin seems strangely quiet. Examining the situation.
I looked at him as I spoke, my packmates hanging behind to listen. "Since we don't know who you were looking for and if she meant any harm to one of ours, I don't think I can help you but maybe you can tell us more about her so just if she is innocent we can handover her to you," I offered.
The corner of Eric's eyes twitched, other than that her expression remains still. "Sure, she smells like daisies and wood. And from what we know, she is a half-human." He provided me with the information I asked for.
My senses go on high alert, I remember smelling that on Trisha. Could it be they mistook someone for her?
Kingston was about to say something, but I got him quiet through mind-link.
"We don't have anyone like that. By the way, why are you looking for her..." I let my question trail off on a long note.
Inside I wasn't as calm as I was outside. The part of me that was screaming that it had to do something with Trisha. It gets me restless and my wolf in feral rage.
The three of them passed a look before Eric met my gaze. "We can't tell you the whys of it. Just that she is needed, someone of importance," Eric explained to me.
I nodded in understanding, I don't want to trust my six senses. "As long as you or your ones don't cross the line we can do something about it. Now I want you to go back, if you can take away your friends" I demanded.
They nodded before speeding off into the forest. I stayed there until I was sure they were gone.
As soon as they were gone, Kingston spoke up. "Trisha had the same scent they were defining,"
His words grabbed the attention of Fenris and
Xavier. "Is that true?" Xavier asked no one in particular.
Fenris confirmed Kingston's assumption. "I was there when she came down this morning, She does smell like they told us."
I lost my shit, growling, I stared dagger at them. "If I heard that one more time, I will do something for sure. You will speak of my mate with respect, As my packmates, you must keep her safe. Yet here you are, blaming my human mate for something equal to sin," I told them.
Kingston whistles. "So, I was right, Trisha IS your mate!" He said with a smirk.
The other two smiled at me in a teasing manner. Only I wasn't in the mood to play around.
Without a word, I shifted and speed away from them. My mate was at the forefront of my mind.
I cannot understand why those leeches were looking for Trisha.
Could it be that there is something I don't know yet?
