Chapter 1, No Regret

This is the century of legend. The world of cultivation where cultivators abandon the rules of the world and seek immortality.

How can this place be poorer and pitiful than the mortal villages he had been to? On the bamboo bed Li Jain was lying on, he could see the sky through the broken roof. Imagine what would happen if it rains. The thatch were all dislocated and the trees branches could be seen. It was a great view in the day, but at night?....

Even though Li Jain didn't know where this old place was, he was lucky to have found his fated body. In his previous life, Li Jain was an intelligent spiritual fruit that was nurtured for hundreds of years before he could take human form. For some reason, the gate of heaven was locked and won't let anyone advance further. The Cultivators were stuck at the transformation level and couldn't reach immortality.

Legend has it that the Intelligent fruit that grows once every ten thousand years was the key to immortality. But this fruit can't be planted and only grows where there is more spiritual energy. The cultivators searched the whole continent for years before they were able to find one; and together, they nurtured the fruit until it took its human form.

Li Jain had no idea of who he really was, all he knew was that everyone was considerate to him and who gave him treasures so he could advance quickly. He also works hard not to disappoint them.

As years went by, Li Jain was good at everything. He was a sword master, talisman master, array formation master, and a miracle doctor who was good at refining pills and craving materials.

What he loves the most is the food in the mortal world. Once in a while, he would descend the mountain to those villages and cities where the mortal lives and enjoy their food. He even worked in the restaurant for two years. Since the time in the mortal world was different from that of the cultivation world, It only took a week of absence.

Years later, Li Jain was about to advance to immortality but first, he had to open the gate of heaven.

Why do cultivators seek immortality? There's a saying that before advancing to immortality one has to abandon their desire and emotions. With every advance stage, a cultivator's life expectancy will increase, so why do they still want to live forever?

Just like mortals, it's difficult to abandon one's seven emotions and six desires.

By the time the gate of heaven was open, Li Jain didn't have time to share the joy or advance to immortality before he was ruthlessly killed by the people that were once good to him. After his death, he didn't try to steal any available body but waited for the fated one.

Now he can rest assured. There's no love and hate between him and those people so he let it go. They were the ones that raise him and give him everything he had, therefore, they had the right to take it from him; so Li Jain thought.

While looking around the room, Li Jain felt his head hurt badly. Just when he couldn't hold on any longer, he started to recall the memories of someone else.

The original owner's name is also Li Jain. He is a rich second-generation descendant of the wealthy Li family. His parents are both very capable and successful people. Due to a lack of proper parental discipline, he was spoiled rotten because of his rare appetite and talent in cultivation. He would spend his days either looting around or visiting one brothel after the other.

After fooling around outside for a long time, he managed to get seven children from three women, two set of twins and one set of triplets.

One year ago, he offended someone he shouldn't have and was fed with a deduction pill. The pill's effects were more terrifying than he thought. Two days later, his cultivation was reduced from Physical Body level twelve which was the peak to advancing to Spiritual Sea realm, to the Physical Body level two. The family was disappointed in him. The only reason they tolerate him all this time was because of his talent.

After sending for a few powerful doctors who were unable to solve the problem, they kicked him and his children out to the countryside. After he was banished to this remote village, he was filled with bitterness from the ill treatment his own family had done to him.

The previous Li Jain, has always been reluctant to pay attention to his children. When he came to the countryside, the last money in his hand was used on beauties and enjoying a luxury life.

His poor children were left to feed for themselves. Three months ago he fell very sick and was bed bound. Unfortunately, he didn't survive and Li Jain who has been waiting for a fated soul for decades replaced him.

Li Jian wasn't disappointed by his identity. Although he had nothing but a shabby house and seven children to feed at the moment, with his capability, he knew he would turn his situation around in no time.

Now that he was far away from the Li family, there won't be a need for him to be careful of his identity being exposed and his change will also be justified.

Before Li Jain could truly wrap his head around what's happening, he finds his stomach grumbling. Back then, while he refined fasting pills for others to take, he never forgot to fill his stomach. Rubbing his belly, Li Jain rolls out of bed to cook himself some food. But after checking the whole house, he didn't find anything.

He was a little depressed and went outside to see the situation but then heard noises not far away.

"Let go of my brother. Don't take him away!" The little boy shouted

"Yeah, let go! You are hurting him." Another little boy was crying

Meanwhile, the boy who was being held by the older man didn't say a word.

Li Jain happens to arrive at this scene. Aren't these the children of the original owner? No, they can be considered his kids now that he's using the person's body. But why were they being held by that man?

"Why are you holding him like that? Let him go." Li Jain's voice was hoarse as if he hadn't talked in a long time

"Daddy."

"Father."

The little boy and the boy he was holding in his arms called out. Their bright eyes stared intensely at Li Jain.

The man seems to hear the biggest joke and laugh out loud. "This kid borrowed ten gold coins from me two months ago and didn't pay. Since he doesn't have money, I decided to sell him to the Zhu family in town as a servant. His life there would be much better then here anyway."

This person name is Xi Han, the biggest bully in the village.

All of them had heard about Li Jain's situation and weren't afraid of him, besides he was already a walking corpse. It's a pity that he has such hard working children.

Li Jain searched his memory and found that there was indeed such a thing. After Li Jian's sickness got worse, his fifth son went to borrow money to treat him. But even if the kid borrows money, it shouldn't be that amount. Given Li Jain repetition, no one would lend his children such a huge sum of money. Unless, this person had evil thoughts from the very beginning.

Li Jain's eyes slowly look at the people present. In the end, he sighed and said weakly: "Let him go. I'll pay you in two days with an interest of two gold coins."

Xi Han couldn't believe what he heard. If it was the same Li Jain he knew and heard about, that guy would sell his children for money. Xi Han didn't want to miss the fun and said with a knowing smile: "Are you serious? Remember what you said. I'll be back in two days. If you can't pay, two of your children would be sold to the Zhu family." After the threat, the man pushed Li Jing Sheng to the ground and left.

"Daddy are you okay?" Li Jing Sheng woke up from the ground, walked forward and asked tentatively, failing to hide the excitement and fear in his tone.

"I… I'll take a rest first." Before he could respond, Li Jian felt like his body was about to collapse and hurry in the room.

"Wu.. wu..Daddy!" Li Juanxin boy cried.
