As I slept, I suddenly felt some movement near me.
Cracking open my eyes slightly, I saw my mother walking away from the bed. She was walking slowly, making sure not to make any noise. But my enhanced senses rendered all her efforts of no use.
Does she want to go to the toilet? I thought. But why is she walking out of the room?
Even though I was curious, I didn't move. After taking a look at the door, I once again closed my eyes.
Trrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiii!
But maybe I was destined not to sleep that night, as not long after I had fallen asleep, a low but shrill sound startled me awake.
I looked around before realizing it was coming from the bracelet I was wearing.
Acting quickly, I made it stop before examining it.
A message finally came through. I sighed, a bit depressed. Just when I had promised my mother that I'd stay another day, the mission partner I was waiting for decided to show up.
But feeling depressed was one thing; I still had to carry out the mission, as it was of vital importance to both me and my master.
Pouring my mana into the bracelet, I checked the message, or more precisely, the meeting time and coordinates that the other person had sent.
"Huh? Now?" I frowned before exclaiming as I checked the location. "The heck? Isn't this just outside the town?"
I was really astounded. As far as I knew, the rank assigned to this mission was quite high.
And now the meeting location my teammate had sent was actually just outside my hometown; it's really something to think about.
"Don't tell me he came here just to meet with me." I contemplated. "But I never mentioned where I would be going to the mission hall; I only gave my general direction."
No matter how I racked my brains, I couldn't come up with a reasonable answer. So I decided to go and check it out myself.
As I stood up from my bed, I also noticed that my mother hadn't come back from wherever she had gone.
"Maybe she went back to sleep in her room…" Deciding to check on her later, I started to get myself ready to head out.
Well, there was nothing much to prepare, as I just had to wear my clothes and carry my sword.
"Along with my storage ring, the master also took back my armor." I muttered to myself, feeling depressed.
"I guess this is also a way for me to train myself." I could console myself this way.
After checking everything once more, I left the room.
Following the hallway, I quickly arrived outside my mother's room. Stepping forward, I placed my ear near the door to listen.
The silence of the night and my enhanced senses allowed me to hear some faint breathing sounds mixed with a bit of snoring.
"Did Mom develop a habit of snoring?" I thought, but I couldn't remember her doing that before.
But soon I shrugged. "Maybe that's why she left my room." I sighed.
Not thinking too much, I made my way out of the mansion. It was quite easy, as despite its size, there were not many people inside the mansion.
I soon exited the main door, arriving in the front yard. Pausing my steps, I thought for a moment before deciding to leave Bert here.
The meeting location was quite close. And had I taken Bert with me, I would have had to walk till we reached the town gate anyway, as our gallop would have created quite a commotion.
"Let's get this over with."
Arriving on the road, I turned back to give my house a glance before turning back and leaving swiftly.
...
A while ago, inside the Marvson Mansion…
After leaving her son's room, Celine calmly made her way towards her own room.
"Madam." As she entered her room, Yena, who was already inside, greeted her.
Celine nodded before asking, "Is everything ready?"
"Yes, Madam." Yena nodded as she pointed towards a dress that was sprawled on the bed. It was a slim fit black party gown with red floral patterns drawn over lace. It also had a slightly lower cut on the chest area than what Celine was used to wearing.
Celine looked at Yena and couldn't help but ask, "Isn't this a bit too much?"
"After all," she continued, "I'm going to confront them, not really to enjoy the party." Celine was really confused as to what Yena was thinking.
But Yena shook her head. "No, madam," she said. "It was fine if you didn't go, but if you are going, then you should look your best so they can't look down on you."
Celine mused as she heard Yena's words. Nodding, she agreed. "Well, you're not wrong."
"Okay, then."
Having made up her mind, Celine quickly got to work and began to undress, not minding her maid's presence.
As the black nightgown slipped off her body, her shapely and well-maintained figure was revealed.
And as she had mentioned earlier to Daniel, she really was not wearing anything on top to cover her breasts.
As Celine began to dress herself, Yena also began to move around and help her by doing her make-up and her hair.
"Alright." Celine nodded as she saw herself in the mirror. "You were right, Yena," she said. "Looks really do matter when dealing with those bunches of arrogant vermin."
She then frowned. "But this area is a bit too tight," she said while using her hands to hold her well-rounded breasts.
Yena pursed her lips as she heard Celine speak. "Madam, you should be careful not to say this in front of those young maids, or they'll lose confidence in themselves."
"Oh, Yena." Celine giggled, adding extra charm to her already gorgeous appearance. "You sure know how to joke; how can I compare with those young ones?"
Yena was speechless. If she had not been familiar with Madam's personality, she would have thought of her as a hypocrite.
"I'm leaving now." Celine said this to Yena while picking up a leather purse from the dressing table. She then pointed towards her bed and said, "I don't know when I'll come back, so just sleep here so I won't have to risk waking others up."
Yena nodded and said with a serious expression, "Please be careful, Madam."
Celine nodded as she walked out of her room under Yena's gaze.
Turning her head, she looked in the direction of her son's room. "I'll be back." She said nothing to anyone in particular before starting to walk out of the mansion.
