Murakan, the Black Dragon

He left his comrades behind to perform Misha's duties in April 1800, just after the end of the Sword Emperor Castle War.

At that time, everyone thought Murakan would return soon. Most likely, he would come back to Tikan before Jin finishes his training in Laprarosa.

However, the seals of Elona Zipfel and Zito's Eyes were the problem.

Those two troublesome entities had kept Talaris and Misha bound all this time. For the past three and a half years, Talaris and Misha had been injured (Talaris even falling unconscious again by the hands of Rosa just before the wounds from the Sword Emperor Castle War had fully healed) and kept the seals.

"You've worked hard all this time, Ms. Misha."

"You've also suffered, Talaris. For me, as a dragon, the time devoted to the seals didn't feel that long... but it's a pity that you'll have to keep an eye on Zito's Eyes for a while."

"Will that be comparable to the mission you've undertaken, Ms. Misha? Although it may be shameless to say this, I consider it an honor to have received help from the Black Dragon in the Hidden Palace's work."

"I appreciate you saying that. It seems like my younger brother managed to handle my duties fairly well, but there might be some mess to clean up. Once everything is settled, I'll come by for a leisurely drink or two."

Jin and others suggested that Misha should take a few days off and rest, but she couldn't afford to do that because of her anxiety. Now that Elona had awakened, she thought it would be a hundred times better to have Murakan around in case any problems arose.

"Don't worry too much about the human world. I'll handle everything, including Elona Zipfel, while waiting for your return."

"Sure thing, Jin. You're reliable. But be careful and avoid direct confrontations with Elona. Always meet her with Murakan by your side."

"Understood."

[Misha, the black dragon of Solderet. It was short but it was a pleasure meeting you.]

Ameris patted Misha's shoulder and spoke. Ameris, Misha, Talaris – even though they hadn't known each other for a long time, they felt a deep camaraderie between them. All three of them carried the mission of safeguarding the world's order.

"Ms. Ameris, if my younger brother makes any mistakes, just forgive him. He must have come quite close to his prime, so it won't be a problem even if you beat him with the intention to kill."

[Huhu, I'll keep that in mind.]

"Ms. Misha, it's done."

Gilly came running with two baskets filled with pies. Wanting to eat Gilly's strawberry pie was the only request Misha had before leaving.

Crunch!

Taking a big bite of the strawberry pie, Misha nodded in satisfaction.

"Yes, this is delicious... It's refreshing and relieves my fatigue."

Misha quickly finished one basket and looked at the remaining one.

"Did you make this for him?"

"Oh, yes, Ms. Misha."

"Give it here; he can eat this every day now anyway. Hmm, it's even tastier... No, why is it even better? Is this some kind of discrimination against me compared to my younger brother?"

"Never! That's not the case, Ms. Misha!"

"Then how do you explain the difference in taste? The arrangement of the strawberries on the pie seems to form a heart shape, too."

"Well, I used the same ingredients to make it exactly the same. The arrangement is not different from what you just had."

"I think it's because love was added, Ms. Misha. If everything else is the same, that's the only explanation."

When Talaris spoke, Misha sighed.

"Gilly, I've been warning you to be cautious about him since we first met. You are too much for that rascal. But in the end, it turned out like this. How can such a mischievous guy end up with someone as wonderful as you?"

"I'm just a person who serves the young master and Lord Murakan."

"Hmm, if you say so. Then Black dragon oppa is single, so I guess I'll have to take him for myself."

As Gilly forced a smile, everyone suppressed their laughter inwardly. Misha thought it was the taste of teasing and finished the remaining strawberry pie.

"Thanks to you, I enjoyed it thoroughly, Gilly. Now I really have to go."

Jin and his companions escorted Misha outside. As Misha revealed her true form, the vicinity of the Hidden Palace turned black as shadow force was released.

Swoosh...

Soon, the shadow force gathered, forming a massive spiral, and Misha gradually ascended into the sky along the flow. Her appearance wasn't just flying; it looked like a kind of ascension, exuding a sublime atmosphere.

[Let's all meet again soon.]

As Misha turned around to say that, a black dragon burst through the clouds in the sky.

[Muahaha, muahahaha!]

Murakan's booming laughter echoed through the entire sky.

[Finally! This body has returned!]

[Could you be quiet and behave for once in a while?]

As Misha approached Murakan, she swung her wings like fists and hit his head. Murakan didn't dodge and let out a playful snort.

[Hehehe, do you think hitting me like that will hurt? Huh?]

[Yeah, keep on being annoying. If you want to be sealed in the shadow realm again...]

[Tsk! Alright, alright. Can't I just stop laughing until you're gone? It's no big deal, I'll do it. Haha, have a safe journey, you demon. Well, I must admit, you've had quite a rough time. Take care!]

At that, Misha was about to pass by Murakan but turned around and thrust her sharp hind claws into his back.

Then, with her front paw, she mercilessly struck the back of Murakan's head, a blow that would have instantly snapped the neck of an ordinary dragon.

[Are you, crazy? When, will, you, come, to, you, senses?]

Each syllable came with a precise blow.

[Damn it, that hurts!]

[Damn? "Damn it"? Do you really want to die?]

[Ack! Ease up a bit, even I have my pride.]

The atmosphere that was once divine in the sky disappeared, replaced only by the sounds of the black dragon siblings' beatings and foul language.

In the end, Misha hit Murakan around 50 times before returning to the shadow realm. Murakan, feeling a bit sulky, coughed and then looked at his companions.

The first thing that caught his eye was not someone who had overcome various obstacles for the past three years without his guardian dragon, and thousand-year contractor

But the woman standing next to him with teary red eyes.

It was Gilly.

[Strawberry pie!]

Murakan, descending as fast as lightning, released particles of shadow force as he gracefully transformed into a human form. Before anyone knew it, Murakan was holding Gilly in his arms.

"How much have you suffered, strawberry pie... But now that I'm back, everything will be alright. I'll turn anyone who dared to make you suffer into dust."

"Well, I've been doing just fine, Lord Murakan. Of course, there was no one among our comrades who made life difficult for me..."

"But why are you crying?"

"First, can you put me down?"

"Strawberry pie, have you grown tired of me? Even if that's the case, I won't let you go."

"No, that's not it."

"From now on, this Murakan will always be by your side."

Both of them were quite beautiful together. Although she had never revealed her feelings, everyone was well aware of how much Gilly had missed him.

However, everyone felt somewhat awkward.

"Oh, it's cringy, and a bit awkward. Can't you stop?"

"Kid! Even you, can't separate me from strawberry pie. I can't stop the joy of reunion."

"Gilly looks uncomfortable too. It's hard for us to watch."

Especially for Jin, since Murakan and Gilly were essentially like parents to him, the feeling was strange. Not many children could watch their parents' affectionate gestures with such ease.

"...It seems my mother's plan to take Lord Murakan is utterly impossible."

"It was a joke, but it would have been impossible even if it was sincere. Hmph, I'm feeling annoyed for some reason. Hey, daughter, comfort me."

"I don't want to, so don't cling to me."

Gilly naturally moved away from Murakan's embrace and adjusted her expression and clothes while coughing awkwardly. Murakan, on the other hand, was oblivious to the embarrassment. He just kept smiling playfully.

"Now, I feel better. You've been through a lot, Murakan."

"This little brat, you've gotten even stronger than when I last saw you. Kukuk, there must be a lot to catch up on. Some unfamiliar faces too."

[I see you're even more foolish than I heard, Murakan. I am Ameris.]

"When I came to the human world, I had some of Solderet's insights. I could roughly tell what kind of being you are. You seem to be an ancient being guarding some boundaries of the world. Nice to meet you, I am Murakan."

[...Speaking informally?]

"Don't act all pretentious with my way of speaking."

Ameris didn't respond and just stared at Murakan. He could probably win any fight, but Murakan felt a pang of guilt and quickly turned his head away. He had a hunch that Ameris might criticize him outright, just like Misha did.

"Ah, I used to speak informally with Solderet too. Alright, alright. Since my demon sister seems extremely formal with you, I'll use polite speech from now on. Satisfied?"

[That's better. By the way, Solderet used to address me with honorifics every single time.]

"I get it. Tess, you are like that noble being."

[You seem to speak as if you dislike your sister, but deep down, you respect her, don't you? Or is it even more, admiration?]

"Stop with the creepy talk."

Although they had just exchanged a few words, Murakan seemed to naturally blend in with his comrades as if he had never left. Even though the situation was not great, just having him back made everyone feel joyful and lively.

"Despite the current circumstances not being ideal, we should still have a small welcome ceremony since you've returned. Let's head to Tikan; everyone is waiting. Especially Euria and the kids were going crazy saying they want to see you."

"I had a rough idea. Elona Zipfel has awakened; I vaguely remember that she was an incredibly powerful being. Why was I forgetting about it until now? That's strange."

"Oh, you sound like you're doubting yourself. What's going on? Is the great Murakan getting scared already?"

"Fear? Kid, this is Murakan we're talking about. I've never experienced such a thing in my life."

Jin looked at Murakan for a moment. Indeed, even Jin found it difficult to measure the overflowing shadow force, as it was so vast.

"That seems likely."

"Just like before, you won't have to worry about being unable to protect me due to a lack of power. Now you can always fight with peace of mind."

"I'll rely on you as always, Murakan."

"Sure."

Jin and Murakan smiled at each other.

"Meow."

Suddenly, Murakan transformed into a cat and cuddled up in Gilly's arms. As he experienced the spatial jump of the Red owl, Murakan started vomiting in a fit.

Jin laughed at Murakan, recalling the memory of him throwing up at the transfer gate the first time they left the storm castle. Gilly patted his back, just like she did back then.
