"Ms. Ameris, is there a way to close the fracture?"
"Look closely at the center of the fracture, Jin."
"It's a bit blurry, but I can see a purple pattern-like thing."
"That's a pattern representing the Purple Thorn Flower from the Demon world, symbolizing Zito. In other words, this is a magic cast directly by Zito. There aren't many beings or means that can break his magic."
[T/L: 보라가시꽃 - Purple thistle flower/Purple thorn flower.]
Upon hearing this, Jin drew his sword, Brandamante, and infused it with shadow force.
"Are you thinking of cutting it with the Shadow Sword?"
"Yes, Ms. Ameris. However... as soon as I decided to cut the fracture, I felt an inexplicable sense of discomfort."
"That's an instinctive feeling. It is probably possible to cut the fracture with your Shadow sword. But you'll endure significant damage. It is very dangerous for the entire Vamel alliance if you take a hit and need treatment."
Jin shrugged as he withdrew his shadow force. He realized that his current health was directly linked to the defensive strength of the Vamel alliance, as Ameris had said.
'As I thought about cutting the fracture... I felt something like Zito's will entwining around me, like thorns. I could break it, but as Ms. Ameris said, I would suffer a considerable blow.'
Just contemplating the act of breaking the fracture brought such a sense of danger. This hinted at the immense power possessed by Zito.
"To destroy the fracture without much difficulty, you'd need the power of Genesis Knight or an equivalent authority."
"Hmph, I can do this in one breath."
"No, Muraikan. Stimulating the fracture recklessly could also harm you. You've almost regained your old strength, but you're not as strong as you were back then, are you?"
"Ah, you're poking where it hurts."
Dante felt the greatest sense of helplessness.
"It's becoming bitter. Even if I overdo it, I don't think I can cut the fracture like you or Mr. Murakan."
"In my opinion, you could do it too, Sword Emperor. However, you might get hurt a little more than me, the kid."
"Moreover, this is Imperial territory... Is it best to just leave it be?"
"Sword Emperor, from my perspective, you are already remarkable. No, a great leader. Leaving it be does not imply you do not need to take any action at all. You need to evacuate your people here and provide them with new shelter and work."
"That's correct, Ms. Ameris."
"Whether it's you, Murakan, or someone as important to the alliance as Jin, we should only deal with fractures where more lives and value are at stake. Not just areas where evacuating residents would minimize the impact. Such fractures will likely emerge globally from now on. New reports might even be coming in already."
If the group were to exert their power in anger to eliminate Romp's fracture, and even larger fractures occurred in places like Tikan or the old capital of the Empire, what then?
Problems in such areas could never be resolved merely by evacuating the population.
"Relocate all of Romp's people to the old capital of the Empire."
Dante instructed the accompanying executives.
"Understood, my lord."
"Make sure to convey my apologies for not safeguarding their homeland. After all the wars of the Demon world, Zipel, and Kinzelo are over, I will definitely create an empire where the people will never have to leave their land."
Ameris gently patted Dante's shoulder as he stared at the fracture with his teeth clenched.
"Don't blame yourself too much, Sword Emperor. Even though Romp's people lost their land, no one lost their life. It's thanks to your quick action. If we had arrived here only after something had emerged from the fracture, there might not have been any survivors. Or perhaps the situation wouldn't have been managed properly, just like now."
The people of Romp immediately began their migration under the guidance of the Meltador forces.
The group returned to Tikan and the second castle of Hairan, promptly declaring a state of emergency across their respective territories and issuing orders. The command was to evacuate immediately upon the occurrence of a fracture.
Despite only ten days passing since the first fracture appeared in Romp, new reports about fractures were continuously coming in.
"This time it's Balonsoin of the Principality of Kurano ... It is already the second fracture in the Principality of Kurano ."
Now Tikan was overwhelmed. In the first place, applications for migration to Tikan were constantly pouring in from all over the world after the Glyek War.
"Please have the King select appropriate areas for regional migrations."
"Understood, young master."
"How is the situation in Zipfel?"
"According to the Nameless report, ongoing dimensional fractures are occurring within the Lutero Magic Federation as well. Recently, Zipfel faced a major defeat against the Red Plutonian tribe. I speculate that perhaps Elona Zipfel was absent due to dealing with fractures."
"It seems the current Demon's God's Orb cannot easily eliminate fractures. If possible, please request the Nameless to provide detailed information about the number of fractures occurring in the Federation."
It felt like an unpredictable bomb was continually growing on the surface. Although there had been no loss of life due to fractures yet, and resources were abundant to support the evacuees, this situation couldn't persist indefinitely. Land and resources were both finite, and shortages were bound to occur eventually.
'It is frustrating…'
As time went on, Jin increasingly realized how perilous his decision to attempt cutting Romp's fracture had been.
'If I had been injured while attempting to cut Romp's fracture back then, I wouldn't have been able to fight when people really needed me.'
In that fleeting moment of thought, the communication device in the Tikan conference room resonated. It was a transmission from Runcandel, the Garden of Swords.
Jin was engulfed by a foreboding feeling that what he had been waiting for was finally here.
{The young patriarch.}
"Speak, Head butler."
{A large-scale dimensional fracture has occurred in Siatello.}
Siatello was one of the major cities of Huphester, not far from Kalon, where the Garden of Swords was located.
Naturally, it was among the top-tier residential areas within Huphester, and losing Siatello would mean giving a stronghold near Kalon to the Demon world.
"...Large-scale?"
{Yes, and furthermore, it's exhibiting quite a different form from most of the fractures reported recently. As I mentioned, it's much larger in scale, and there's a continuous shockwave emanating from the fracture. Fortunately, it occurred in the outskirts, so there haven't been any significant casualties, but its rate of expansion is concerning.}
Thud! Without realizing it, Jin clenched his fist.
"I will depart immediately."
Jin, along with Murakan and Ameris, immediately headed to the launch pad of the Red Owl. On the launch pad were Dr. Qwaul and Valeria, who had briefly returned to Tikan earlier in the morning.
Furthermore, many parts of the Red Owl were dismantled.
"Oh, Jin. Are you going somewhere right now?"
"What's the matter? Dr. Qwaul."
"Did you forget why I came here this morning? The excessive sorties lately have taken a toll on the Red Owl. If we don't properly maintain it, we might lose the power source."
"A large-scale fracture has occurred in Siatello. I need to go immediately."
"Oh, for heaven's sake, in Siatello? The maintenance is nearly complete. But to complete the assembly of the components, we'll need at least two hours..."
"Can't you make it faster?"
"Two hours is already too little time. If we go any faster, you might end up trapped somewhere in the subspace while riding this thing."
"Jin, there's nothing we can do. Just wait a little. Or maybe you should contact the acting master of the Hidden Palace for assistance."
As Valeria suggested, Jin immediately requested communication with the Hidden Palace.
{Yes, the young patriarch? I am Peng. The acting master of the Hidden Palace is currently patrolling the Western Sea with Mort... There seem to be fractures appearing here as well. What? It's urgent? A large-scale fracture in Siatello? Oh no, what do we do!? We'll need some time to pinpoint the exact location of the acting master.}
Anger boiled up inside Jin. The more he was late, the greater the damage to Siatello would be. He could almost imagine ordinary people and the knights of the clan who were trying to protect them dying.
{The young patriarch, I will continue to relay the information as reports come in from Siatello. It's just two hours, so please don't worry too much. We've already dispatched the Chief of the Black Sword Association and the flagbearers, so there shouldn't be any major issues.}
Jin sat in front of the communication device, suppressing his nervousness.
Luet felt just as anxious. If, by any chance, the Demon world's forces appear in Siatello before Jin arrived, Huphester would be immediately dragged into a war with the Demon world. Vallas and the Tona brothers didn't possess the power to eliminate fractures.
'Although no one has appeared from the fractures after their appearance... I have a bad feeling about this. It feels like the Demon world intentionally created a large-scale fracture in Siatello.'
If the Demon world had information about the geography of the human territories, Siatello was an ideal target to occupy. As soon as the Demon world's cities were summoned, it would be a strategic location to directly strike the Garden of Swords.
Eventually, two hours passed without Syris and Mort being located.
{Sorry, young patriarch. We've sent various signals, but it seems the acting master of the Hidden Palace hasn't been able to receive them due to patrolling the distant areas of the Western Sea.]
"It's okay, Peng. If any other issues arise, contact Tikan immediately."
On the launch pad, the Red Owl, now fully repaired, was ready. Qwaul and Valeria looked frazzled.
"Thank you for your hard work, Dr. Qwaul, Valeria. I'll be back."
As the Red Owl was started, they arrived in Siatello in an instant.
And the massive fracture in Siatello was far more colossal than Jin had anticipated. A purple fracture filled the outskirts of Siatello, and knights were battling unknown purple ghost-like entities.
"Jin, those are creatures materialized by Zito's will from the opened fracture. They're troublesome..."
As Ameris explained,
Jin suddenly looked towards the other side of the fracture where the knights were struggling. There stood five figures he hadn't expected to see.
"Kid, what's going on? Huh... huh! Haven't seen them in ages!"
Murakan belatedly confirmed them and exclaimed.
They were Luna and the Black Knights who had just arrived in the Human world and were headed to the Garden of Swords.
"Elder sister Luna!"
"Oh, the youngest!"
As soon as Luna and the Black Knights looked up at the Red Owl,
Jin felt a sense of relief, washing away the frustration he had been feeling all this time.
