"Got it, I'll be there. Elder sister Luna, elder sister Luntia, please prepare to leave immediately."
"We're always ready. Let's go, young patriarch."
Jin immediately concluded the meeting and headed to Tikan.
There was only one reason why Jin was taking Luna and Luntia with him. No matter how reckless and weak Peitel, whom they had met on the Blue bird islands, was, he was fundamentally a higher level god.
Even if they were to engage in battle with him, having the two of them together would be the most secure option. Furthermore, Murakan and Valeria were also going to accompany them.
"Have you arrived, my lord! And the flagbearers!"
Upon the arrival of the Red owl at Tik, Jet greeted the group.
"Yeah, what about Yulian and Caltor?"
"They are in the infirmary."
Even before entering the infirmary, the group could hear Yulian's sobbing voice. Of course, he wasn't crying because he was sad, but rather he cried out of joy.
"Tsk... You've got only two eyes, how long are you going to cry? Stop crying and come say hello, you crybaby."
Despite her curse, Veris was actually very happy with Caltor's recovery. The same goes for Kuzan, who stood next to her.
In a sense, the three of them practically joined the Vamel Alliance at the same time.
While Kuzan and Veris quickly adapted to life in Tikan, Yulian, in fact, had not been able to open up to his comrades and connect with them properly until recently. Of course, he had been active in various battles, but as long as Caltor remained unconscious, Yulian had been unable to communicate with anyone.
But now that Caltor had awakened, Yulian's long-standing loneliness and despair had come to an end.
"Sir Jin...,"
Yulian looked at Jin with teary eyes.
"You don't regret coming to Tikan now, do you?"
"I've always felt that way from the beginning, and I've always been grateful. Now I finally feel like I've regained everything in life."
"That's good to hear. Don't be too formal, though it's a bit awkward. Mr. Caltor, nice to meet you. I have seen you almost every day since we rescued you in 1799, but it seems you're seeing me for the first time."
As Caltor got up from the bed, he made eye contact with Jin. While he had fully regained consciousness, his body was in a very weakened state due to the long illness.
Jin recalled the day he had rescued Caltor at Joshua's villa, remembering the pitiful state he was in. There had been large spikes impaled through his limbs, and his entire body had been covered in severe torture marks.
"You saved me, Sir Jin..."
"It wasn't just me, my comrades were there too. Yulian also participated in that mission. And afterwards, when I was looking for Ozdock, the core monster, the 7th flagbearer of Runcandel was with me."
"I don't know how to express my gratitude..."
As he was about to reply, overwhelmed by emotions, Caltor hugged Yulian for a moment and burst into tears. Everyone felt that the two of them were a perfect pair. The time when they lived as Joshua's hounds, being weak-hearted and tearful, was truly a hell for them.
"Oh, kid. You're here?"
"Murakan."
"Err, sob, gasp. Murakan!?"
Startled by Murakan's unexpected voice, Caltor looked at him in surprise.
"What's wrong? Why are you so surprised?"
"Oh, well... Are you Mr. Murakan?"
"Do you know me?"
"Among the dragons, there's no dragon who doesn't know Mr. Murakan."
"Hahaha, I guess that's true. Don't worry, I won't hit you. You're on our side, right?"
"Th-Thank goodness."
"But still, knowing me means you've lived for at least a thousand years, right? How old are you?"
"I'm a little less than two thousand years old."
"Oh, were you active a thousand years ago?"
"No, I don't know much about the war from that time. I was hiding with Lord Peitel at that time..."
"Ah... You were hiding. W-Well... I see."
A thousand years ago, during the peak of the war between Runcandel and Zipfel, Peitel had been afraid of the battle and had hidden away with his dragons.
As Murakan recalled his memories of Peitel, he thought how typical it was of him. Yet, he couldn't bring himself to curse Peitel in front of Caltor. Insulting a god in front of their dragon was akin to insulting one's own parents.
No matter how much he disliked Peitel, he couldn't insult his comrade's parents.
"It's possible. Well, don't worry too much about it since you're okay."
"Well... I'm ashamed."
"Huh? Why are you ashamed?"
"Even though I hid away by Lord Peitel's choice at the time, Runcandel saved me this time. And the war from back then is still ongoing. So, this time, I won't hide and will definitely fight together. Even if that goes against Lord Peitel's intentions..."
For the first time, Caltor spoke with a resolute expression.
"Wow... You truly have a great mindset, my friend. Even if they are only words, going against their god's will is not something that can easily come out of their dragon's mouth. You actually need a strong will to say something like that aloud."
"I heard that the Runcandel and Vamel alliance are in need of Lord Peitel's help."
"That's right. We need to know how Peitel materializes his authority into a weapon, or the power of storm itself. Yulian, are you able to communicate with Peitel?"
"...No, it's been a long time since I heard Lord Peitel's voice. Since Lord Peitel was hurt by Mr. Murakan and Sir Jin in the Blue Bird Islands, I haven't heard his voice even once."
Murakan nodded, as if understanding. He thought that even if he were in that situation, he probably wouldn't be able to communicate with a contractor again either.
"Maybe he is just embarrassed, but there could be other reasons. At that time, Lord Peitel was manifested through me, but still, he suffered significant damage... I don't know if there was a major impact on his main body."
"So that means he might be recovering."
"Yes."
"Hmm, then is there any other way to try to communicate with Peitel?"
"There's nothing that Yulian and I can do in this situation. Yulian has tried several times to communicate with Lord Peitel to help me recover, but he hasn't succeeded even once. I'm in the same boat. However, I'm thinking of directly going to the Blue Bird Islands."
"The Blue Bird Islands."
Among the Blue Bird Islands, there were around a hundred islands.
Among them, the island where Jin and Murakan had gone was the 32nd island. However, that island had disappeared without a trace after the battle between Garmund and Joshua.
As a result, even the tombstone that was believed to be the tomb of the god of thunder 'Gram' on the 32nd island was also gone.
"As far as I know, even if there's a problem with the tombstone or the barrier around the god's tomb, as long as the remains or the fundamental energy of the god is nearby, the tomb won't completely disappear. So, even if we go there again now, Sir Jin's sword might react to Lord Gram's energy."
Deep down, Jin had been contemplating what to do if Caltor was uncooperative.
From Jin's perspective, it was true that he had saved Yulian and Caltor, but from Caltor's standpoint, his own god, akin to his parents, had been injured by Jin and his comrades.
Yet, it was reassuring. Caltor had thoughts about making choices for his comrades over Peitel's wishes.
'Well, Peitel didn't do anything when he was being tortured and dying... And it seems he wanted to participate on any side a thousand years ago, but he had to hide because of Peitel. It's not that strange.'
Standing up from his seat, Caltor adjusted his clothes.
"I'm ready. We can leave right away."
"It's okay if you take a few days to recover."
"No, if my combat abilities are needed, then it's better to go later. But it seems there are many strong people here..."
Jin, Murakan, Luna, Luntia.
With the four people in the room, even if Peitel were to manifest again like back then, they could easily subdue him. When Murakan had temporarily regained some strength back then, he had overwhelmed Peitel alone.
Of course, Peitel might be able to manifest in a state where he could exert a stronger influence on the human world compared to back then, but Jin wasn't overly concerned.
"Well then, the Red owl will be waiting, so come out as soon as you're ready."
"Yes, Sir Jin."
"And feel free to speak comfortably. It's awkward to hear formal language from a dragon who's over two thousand years old. You don't have to think of me as too imposing. Mr. Caltor, you are also part of Tikan's family."
"Uh, is that so...?"
Shortly after, Jin, the flagbearers, Valeria, and Murakan left the room, followed by Veris and Kuzan.
"Sir Jin."
"Veris?"
"Well... I didn't come for anything else. I just wanted to say thank you."
Jin was surprised. The image that comes to mind when you think of Veris was Enya's teacher, but she was also known for her sharp-tongue.
"Whether it's me, Kuzan, or Yulian, if any of us hadn't met you, we would have ended up as Joshua's hounds, doing useless things and being discarded, or we might have been killed."
"Why state the obvious?"
"I just felt like I should say thank you again after seeing that idiot crying with Caltor today... Anyway, have a safe journey. In a couple of hours, I have to go to the Garden of Swords to check on the flagbearers and Magic Knight units. I need to see how they're using magic."
"I'm grateful too, Veris. Take care. When you're teaching, don't hold back on insults and threats, whether they're elders, knights, or flagbearers. Just say it's my order. If they can't follow properly, give them a fitting punishment on your own."
"That sounds nice. Alright."
A while later, Yulian and Caltor came out to the launch pad.
After marking the coordinates, the red owl swiftly transported the group to the location where the 32nd island of the Blue Bird Islands used to be.
"Uwok. Ugh!"
"Every time we move, really... No matter how vulnerable dragons are to spatial movement, the other dragons don't seem to be like this. Even Mr. Caltor, who came with his weakened body, is fine."
"Damn it, I can't get used to this feeling. Other dragons must not be as delicate as I am."
"Yes, that's probably the case."
Looking down from the sky, the Blue Bird Islands, despite having some islands destroyed due to past battles, still maintained an overall appearance resembling a flock of birds in flight.
As it was winter, the unique thunderstorms and strong winds of the Blue Bird Islands weren't as severe as usual. The group landed the red owl on the sea and settled on the massive rock where the 32nd island used to be.
"Try taking out the Thunder Sword once... No, go ahead and take it out, Sir Jin."
As Sigmund was drawn, Jin and the group immediately recognized the pattern appearing on the blade, the same pattern they had seen before.
"Oh, it's the same pattern we saw back then. It's Gram's pattern, kid. As Caltor said, it seems Gram's power is still lingering in this place. Oh, Yulian, why are you suddenly like that?"
Simultaneously, Yulian's eyes rolled back, and he shivered uncontrollably.
"Could this be a side effect due to the manifestation of a god? Yulian, are you okay?"
"I-I can hear Lord Peitel's voice...!"
"What are you saying?"
After a moment, Yulian spoke with trembling lips.
"H-Help... He's asking for help..."
