"I will pledge my loyalty."
February 1st, 1804.
Zito looked down upon a human who had come to the True Demon World. He knelt before Zito and asked to be accepted as a member of the True Demon World.
[Ah, how annoying.]
Zito openly displayed his displeasure while looking at him.
The passage between the True Demon World and the human world was still not completely open. Although the Demon Seal Wall had been damaged, it hadn't lost all of its functions.
Therefore, in order for the humans to descend into the True Demon World now, they needed the assistance of a special entity. Even reaching Zito's residence directly would be almost impossible even if there was no Demon Seal Wall.
As far as Zito knew, there was only one person capable of such a feat.
[Helluram sent you, huh? Damn it, no wonder she didn't properly explain the price of the last deal... So, accepting you was the price?]
The man didn't answer and slowly lifted his head.
Although he spoke words of loyalty and knelt, there was no trace of servility in his demeanor.
He was facing Zito with an oddly dignified attitude. Zito wanted to give him a lesson right away, but he couldn't. He was convinced that this was the price Helluram wanted.
[It's unlikely that the witch approached you first; it must have been your god who pleaded with the witch. So he asked her to make arrangements, so that I will accept you. Geez, Sheenu used to be so arrogant in the past, I remember.]
The man's name was Kelliark Zipfel.
There was no sign of chaos in him anymore. Vitality worthy of a person, who was called the pinnacle of magic, was flowing from his eyes, and new staff 'Hroti' that symbolize the Zipfel's patriarch, seemed ready to release mana like a torrent.
[Hmm, I can't quite figure out what Helluram is thinking. So, tell me, and I'll consider taking you in. That person can give you the chills at times like this. Ugh, it's creepy. In some ways, it's more intense than love and peace.]
"I haven't personally heard the conversation of the gods."
[Ah, this bastard... You are acting so confidently because you know the higher ups have finished discussing it, right? If I were to drag you to the torture room and have some fun, I know that Helluram would throw a fit. Right?]
"If you won't accept me, I'll leave immediately. My goal is to reclaim my clan, so even Mr. Zito let me go, he won't suffer any losses."
[No, no. What if you succeed in reclaiming your clan? At that time, you could suddenly rush at me with Demon God's orb being complete, saying that you would make me regret my choice, right.]
"Think as you please."
[Until not too long ago, you were in such a state that you were trampled upon by your son and waiting for death. You were a conqueror on the surface. You're still proud enough to show such dignity. I really hate that kind of thing.]
"Will you accept me?"
Zito rubbed his forehead.
Just like with Kelliark, he couldn't read Helluram's intentions.
'Just a few days ago, we were talking about trivial matters and playing around... As expected, Helluram is Helluram.'
Since the start of the human world's conquest, Zito had never had a day as uncomfortable as today.
Even when Visepps went on rampage, when Orgal almost died, when news came about a crimson aura user among the humans, when he lost some of his power due to Ayula, when his subordinates kept losing, Zito had always thought there was no problem.
But not this time. This time, unlike before, he couldn't predict the variable this human, Kelliark Zipfel, would bring.
The problem was that he couldn't refuse. If he did, Helluram would undoubtedly burden him with an even 'bigger problem.'
[Well, I'll accept you. Just don't do anything until I give you orders. Just be like air, like a rock on the side of the road, like hairs on a bald head. It means you're invisible, immobile, and useless.]
"Understood."
Immediately, as Zito waved his hand in the air, a dimensional portal opened. It was a gateway leading to Ragal's Poison Demon Castle.
"Oh, Lord Zito!?"
[Hey, Ragal. Keep this guy in the 3rd prison of your castle.]
"Uh... the 3rd prison?"
[Why? What are you hiding there?]
"Hahaha, I'm not hiding anything. How could I possibly have secrets from Lord Zito? Oh, wait. He's a human!? Moreover, this face... isn't this Kelliark Zipfel, who was purged? How did he end up in the True Demon World?"
[I've always felt that our Ragal has a lot of questions. And not to mention, it's because of this that I get annoyed, you know?]
"I am just your cute Poison demon, Ragal Fun. Hmmm, how should we treat you?"
[Think of it as growing a plant. Give him food and water occasionally so he doesn't die, and if he looks too withered, give him more.]
"You mean don't touch him, I understand."
As Zito gestured with his eyes, Kelliark crossed the dimensional portal. Zito closed the portal while grumbling in an annoyed voice.
"the 3rd prison... I wonder if Lord Zito figured out my surprise gift. This is troublesome. What do you think?"
"I don't know."
"Ah, I should greet you first. I am Ragal Fun, the Poison Demon of the extreme poisonous region of the True Demon World."
"I am Kelliark Zipfel."
"Come to think of it, you don't talk much... Well, sure, those who were once successful tend to be like that."
"If you want, you can also become successful."
"I didn't mean it that way."
Ragal's mood improved greatly as soon as Zito entrusted Kelliark to him.
It was because he believed Zito trusted him to that extent.
"Let me guess, you made a deal with the witch Helluram. So you could secretly enter Lord Zito's domain, and Lord Zito accepted you because you're a human. And Lord Zito handed you over to me because he trusts me!"
Kelliark didn't respond and calmly surveyed the Poison Demon Castle. It wasn't much different from a castle of the human world. However, the light coming in through the windows was paler than the real sun, and the souls of humans who had fallen to hell were busy working.
"I have a lot of questions about you. Lord Zito told me not to touch you. But that's just his way of saying not to torture you. Therefore, depending on how you act, we can become quite friendly."
"Mr. Zito hopes I won't do anything."
"Of course he does, since he can't figure out what Helluram is thinking! But, you know, my friend Kelliark. Although it's right that you shouldn't do anything, I can achieve something through your information or abilities. Perhaps that's the reason Lord Zito sent you to me."
Ragal sang a little tune as he guided Kelliark to the 3rd prison. All of the prison cells in the Poison Demon Castle were located underground. With each step down the stairs, the horrifying screams of souls being tortured echoed.
The 3rd prison was one of the cells located at the very bottom, and its atmosphere was entirely different from the other prisons.
It felt more like a monastery than a prison – neat and serene. From adjacent prisons, even more horrific screams were audible compared to the ones they had heard before.
"Our 3rd prison, how should I put it... is traditionally... a place of conversion. Among them, it's quite close to religion conversion. So, the wardens and inquisitors were once called saints in their lives. Of course, the fact that saints ended up in hell means they were as despicable as they come."
As Ragal approached, the wardens dressed as priests lowered their heads.
"Is the work progressing well?"
"Yes, one of them is nearly fully converted, Lord Ragal. The other three are undergoing adjustments in the 1st and 2nd prison."
"Three of them are still in the process of adjustment? Hoho, they're holding up better than expected. They'll eventually end up in the 3rd prison, whether they resist or not. How nice would it be to just come here and relax?"
"Within three days, they will all gather in the 3rd prison. By the way, is this a new recruit?"
"A new recruit, but he is not subject of conversion. This is my new friend, who you all must serve fervently."
"We understand, greetings!"
The wardens bowed their heads deferentially towards Kelliark.
Soon, the wardens opened the door to the 3rd prison. The interior looked like a massive prayer hall, but the difference was the fact that Zito's painting was present instead of Ayula or well-known gods of the human world.
In the midst of it all was a woman kneeling and reading a thick book like a scripture. And that woman was someone Kelliark Zipfel knew well.
"Anne Runcandel?"
Anne Runcandel.
The ninth flagbearer of the Runcandel, and the first to embrace chaos alongside her older sister Myu. She had perished at the hands of the black knight Mon, who came to their aid the Tona brothers during the war against evil god. Since the prophet had died, their resurrection became impossible.
Naturally, she didn't follow the path of reincarnation and instead ended up in hell. Anne continued to recite what seemed like prayer verses with her eyes closed.
"So, in the 1st and 2nd prison..."
"Myu Runcandel, as well as Ran Runcandel and Vigo Runcandel. Currently, Paellito, in order to find them, has stopped the production of soul wine that our demons usually enjoy. Using these, I plan to attack Luna Runcandel."
-Sakiel.
-Yes, Lord Paellito.
-From now on, temporarily stop the production of soul wine. And thoroughly search hell to confirm whether Luna Runcandel's siblings are present there. They might have fallen to hell. If they haven't turned into soul wine yet, they might still be here.
A conversation between Paellito and Sakiel when Luna handled the great fracture in Siatello with her crimson sword technique.
Ragal didn't hear the conversation directly, but he saw through Paellito's plan. So Ragal had his subordinate "Gero" secure them before Paellito could.
"Kelliark, my friend, I'm going to surprise Lord Zito with a gift using these. It's the gift of the White Whale's death. However, you know, it's not just Luna Runcandel's siblings coming to our hell. Your former subordinates are also steadily arriving."
"...Are you telling me to select useful individuals from among them?"
"Oh, you're quite receptive! Starting today, I will continuously send Zipfel's souls to this place, the 3rd prison, where you'll reside. Just pick the ones you need, and I'll use that to impress Lord Zito. How about that? Simple, isn't it?"
"I'll do that."
"Hahaha, great. Then rest a bit, I'll bring something delicious in the evening. We can enjoy a glass of soul wine."
Ragal left. The wardens, while subtly observing Kelliark, went about finishing their tasks.
Kelliark smiled quietly. Thinking about the blood of Ganesto.
