Outskirts Of The City

The figure cursed under his breath. He did not have time for this. He reached into his coat and pulled out a gun. He aimed at the dog and fired. A loud bang echoed in the night, followed by a whimper. The dog fell to the ground, bleeding from its chest. It looked at its owner with sad eyes, then closed them forever. The owner screamed in horror. He ran to his dog and hugged it, sobbing uncontrollably.

The owner scanned the street, hoping to catch a glimpse of the killer. But he saw nothing. No one. Just the empty darkness and the sound of his own heartbeat. He felt a surge of anger and grief as he lifted his dog's lifeless body in his arms. He had lost his best friend, his loyal companion. And he didn't even know why.

The scene soon attracted a crowd of curious onlookers. They whispered and pointed, some expressing sympathy, others taking pictures.
