Getting back on his feet, he joined Meilin in moving the humans behind a car. "Look at them, hiding and scared for their lives," Aiden remarked, chuckling. Hearing no reaction, he turned to see Meilin falling to the ground. Anxious, he called out, "Scarlet!"

"Stop yelling; I'm not deaf," Meilin managed to say. 

Aiden frowned, concerned by her sudden weakness. "How could you get so weak?" 

Aiden's heart raced as he clutched Meilin close, her body limp in his arms. "Hold on," 

With a swift motion, he drew a circle in the air, and a portal burst forth. Without a second's hesitation, he stepped through the gateway, the light swallowing them whole as they vanished from sight.
