Chapter 42: Breakfast Time

As the first rays of dawn shone into Rose's spacious bedroom, Yang Chen energetically got out of bed and dressed himself, ready to leave. Rose, still groggy from sleep, pouted slightly with discontent, lacking her usual assertiveness as a female gang leader. She complained self-pityingly, "I told you not to do it in the water. I feel all swollen down there."

Yang Chen looked conflicted and replied, "Doing it in the water causes swelling? Rose, my dear, you really have no medical knowledge. Is that what you think swelling means?"

"I don't care, you heartless man." Rose threw a pillow at Yang Chen.

Looking a bit embarrassed, Yang Chen chuckled and said, "It's fine. The more we do it, the more our bodies adapt. Practice makes perfect, right?"

Rose spat, feeling both amused and annoyed. "Practice makes perfect? You're talking nonsense. I can't believe I fell for a shameless rogue like you."

After some playful banter, Yang Chen remembered that he needed to go home and change clothes before going to work. So, after cheekily groping Rose's plump buttocks a few times, he hurriedly left the bar.

When he arrived at the Dragon View Villa, it was breakfast time. Wang Ma, wearing an apron, was bringing breakfast out of the kitchen. Seeing Yang Chen return home, Wang Ma was momentarily surprised but quickly showed a concerned expression. She asked, "Young Master, where did you go all night? Miss and I were worried."

Just as Wang Ma finished speaking, Lin Ruoxi, who was sitting at the dining table and sipping congee, furrowed her brows and coldly said, "I wasn't worried."

Seeing the frosty expression on her face, as if someone owed her money, Yang Chen didn't mind. He sat down and served himself a bowl of congee. With each delicious sip of the smooth and fragrant rice porridge, he couldn't help but compliment, "Wang Ma, how do you make congee taste so good!"

Wang Ma cheerfully said, "Young Master, drink more if you like." After speaking, she returned to the kitchen to continue her work.

Yang Chen finished two big mouthfuls of congee and was about to scoop another bowl when he saw Lin Ruoxi immediately move the bowl of porridge to her side, giving him an absolute "you're not getting any" gesture.

Yang Chen felt a bit frustrated and smiled, "My dear Ruoxi, can't you even let your husband have a bowl of congee for breakfast?"

"You've already had two mouthfuls, and don't call me by those disgusting names." Lin Ruoxi put the bowl aside and continued to sip her congee in small sips.

"It's just a small bowl of congee, do you have to be like this..." Yang Chen muttered to himself and suddenly thought of something. He smiled and asked, "Could it be that you're angry with me for not coming back last night and feeling jealous?"

Without lifting her head, Lin Ruoxi replied coldly, "You're not interested in your trivial matters."

"Then why won't you let me have some congee!" Yang Chen was puzzled.

"Wang Ma made it for me, so you can handle it yourself."

Yang Chen hesitated for a moment, thinking it would be unreasonable to forcefully take some congee. He remembered that he had promised to bring breakfast for his female colleagues at the office, so he decided not to fuss anymore. He went upstairs to change his clothes, planning to leave.

As Yang Chen was about to leave, Wang Ma curiously asked, "Young Master, aren't you going to eat more? There are a few knife-cut steamed buns in there."

"Oh, I have something to do this morning, so I'll eat out." Yang Chen glanced longingly at the large bowl of fragrant coriander millet congee, but ultimately patted his butt and walked out the door.

Wang Ma sighed and walked up to Lin Ruoxi, speaking earnestly, "Miss, the Young Master is a good person. You and him should live harmoniously as a couple. Don't hold grudges against him."

Lin Ruoxi paused her actions and calmly replied, "Wang Ma, don't overthink it. If he wants to eat out, let him."

"Men, you know, they tend to play around a bit when they're young. Miss, treat Young Master better. Those women outside can't compare to you. Then Young Master won't stay out all night." Wang Ma spoke with a touch of concern.

Lin Ruoxi seemed unwilling to hear more and stood up, placing her chopsticks down. "Wang Ma, I'm full. I'm going to work."

Seeing Lin Ruoxi's reluctance to continue the conversation, Wang Ma knew that the stubborn Miss must be annoyed. She sighed and began to clean up the table.

The morning incident didn't affect Yang Chen's mood. He listened to the morning news and drove all the way to the vicinity of the market in the western district. He went to the place where he used to buy lamb skewers and started searching for various breakfast items.

As someone who used to be a street vendor, Yang Chen was familiar with the various breakfast stalls in this area. Many people also had some acquaintance with him. When Yang Chen arrived, they greeted each other with enthusiasm. After buying the steamed buns, Yang Chen even gave away a few of them.

Soon, Yang Chen returned to his car with bags of breakfast items. However, he felt a little regretful that he didn't see Lao Li's stall. He wondered what had happened last night.

Thinking of Lao Li, Yang Chen felt the need to remind Zhang Hu to treat the local vendors well and not take advantage of them. After all, they had developed a good relationship over the past six months.

When he arrived at Yu Lei International, he was just in time and not late. Yang Chen got off the elevator and entered the large office of the Public Relations Department. Immediately, two brightly dressed and charming female colleagues came up to him, smiling and saying, "Brother Yang, why are you only just arriving? We sisters are famished." It seemed that Zhao Hongyan had informed them about Yang Chen being responsible for buying breakfast.

Yang Chen raised his hands with the two bags of food. "I bought a lot this time. I'll go earlier next time."

As he spoke, Yang Chen walked to his own desk. His desk was very simple, with only a computer and nothing else, making it suitable for placing food.

More than ten young and attractive female employees immediately gathered around, creating a lively scene. When they saw the assortment of steamed buns, scallion rolls, sliced bread, sesame pancakes, deep-fried dough sticks, fried cakes, and even pan-fried dumplings and soup-filled dumplings on Yang Chen's desk, they were dumbfounded. Then one by one, they looked at Yang Chen with admiring eyes.

"Yang Chen, you're amazing! How did you buy so much, and none of them are the same!" Zhang Cai, with her round face, grabbed a soup-filled dumpling and took a bite, praising him.

"Are you secretly working as a breakfast procurer? You're so professional! And you even bought milk and soy milk. You even have sweet and savory soy milk!" Zhao Hongyan was surprised by how dedicated Yang Chen was. The variety he bought was much richer than what they usually bought.

As Yang Chen watched his female colleagues praise him happily, he felt a sense of satisfaction and pride. However, he completely forgot that he was originally hired for public relations, not as a side character in charge of buying breakfast.

"Take whatever you like, just let me know your preferences, and I'll bring more next time." Yang Chen felt a bit proud and didn't forget to boast. "When you do something, you should do it seriously. I'm more than happy to fulfill the people's needs. It's a noble virtue of mine."
