CHAPTER 12.5: WARFARE I

"Surround the building and hold."

These were the words of Ju Yong-jin, a commando of a 26-man unit. They were a unit of the Korean People's Army Special Operation Force(SOF) that acted under direct orders from the President.

The Ground forces were attacking the front lines of Baba's troops to divert his attention and force him to spread out his forces. The chief instigator of the coup, Kim Jong Un, couldn't assist Baba as he was also engaged in battle with the reserve forces of the Korean People's Army.

Amid this ongoing war, Ju Yong-jin and his unit's mission was to infiltrate Baba's Safehouse and secure him through force.

It was a Black Operation.

They had succeeded in infiltrating the compound but were met with a larger number of guards than expected. The solution of abandoning the mission didn't exist so they decided to divide into two parties. Team A would take the Southeast side while Team B would take the Northwest side of the compound.

Ju Yong-Jin was the most experienced in the unit so they decided to leave him in charge. He commanded them to hold their positions and to get a visual of the target.

"Team B here. No visual on the target."

"Status?"

"Sixteen Armed Security Personnel in sight."

"Eliminate any visible threats."

A soldier in team B stealthily approached a guard and in less than a second broke his neck and dragged his body to a dark area. There were now 15 guards left.

A patrolling guard caught the shadow of a soldier by chance and was about to alert the others but...

The soldier reacted immediately, he struck the guard's gut with a knee kick before launching a throwing technique on him, which he followed by utilizing a knife to stab through his neck. He died immediately.

It was a perfect display of Kyeok Sul Do, a martial art practiced by the Korean People's Army.

Unfortunately, the impact of the throw made a lot of noise. The rest of the guards rushed to the scene and shot at them.

In Operations like this, a slight mistake could be deadly, and it was indeed so. The 13 members of Group B were now down to five, they had a slight delay in their movements and couldn't handle the rapid firing of the guards.

A wounded soldier used his teammate's dead body as a meat shield, reloaded his rifle, and took down two guards.

He grabbed a knife off the body of a dead guard and threw it toward the head of a guard. The guard smacked it down with his gun and survived but he later had his head brutally blown off by another soldier.

There were now ten guards left. They still had the numerical advantage but that had no meaning in a gunfight taking place on such an open space. They stopped firing aimlessly and instead specifically aimed at the surviving soldiers.

Two more soldiers went down but they weren't wiped out. It was because Team A who had eliminated the guards on the Southeast side of the compound came to their aid.

They helped Team B annihilate the guards without further casualties but the situation wasn't looking so bright.

"We decided to come to your aid but the casualties are more than expected." Ju Yong-Jin criticized the three surviving soldiers of team B.

The situation really wasn't looking up. There were still guards inside the building and they would have heard the gunshots. In other words, they were more in number and they were also prepared for an ambush. It wouldn't be surprising if Baba was already fleeing.

"We have no choice." A member of Team A spoke up.

"We attack, we die. We don't attack, we die. It is better to fight and die with honor."

'Blockheads.' Ju Yong-Jin called the soldiers who were ready to lay down their lives for their nation 'Blockheads'.

It wasn't because he had no love for his nation, he just had more love for his life. It was amazing that someone with this thought pattern was a soldier in the Korean People's Army. He would have gotten along with Nei very much.

"You two."

Ju Yong-Jin called out the soldiers of Team B.

"Stay behind me and when you get an opportunity, grab Baba and run. Survive."

"Understood."

Ju Yong-Jin decided to do his best to survive and complete the mission. He kissed the pendant(locket) of his newly born daughter hanging around his neck and prayed to whatever god would listen to him.

"Move in."

They broke open the glass doors and entered the building. Then....there was a large noise.

"...!"

The whole building blew up.

On the first day of the war between Kim Jung Eun and Kim Jong Un, Kim Jung Un and his forces took victory....

A 26-man-unit of the Korean SOF in charge of securing Baba, a major player in Kin Jung Un's armed force was annihilated...leaving no survivor.
