"You know Geoff?" I asked my dad as we sat at the dining table.
Geoff and I sat beside each other opposite to my dad and Sandra.
"Of course I do. Lots of successful cases."
I felt my chest inflate with pride. The cook filled our plates with food.
"So you married Sheila?" It was Sandra who asked this after chewing her first forkful.
"Sure, I did." Others would think he was being serious, but I heard the sarcasm in his voice. Sandra nodded, confirming my suspicion that she didn't notice the sarcasm.
"Just telling you, she's a nasty bitch."
"Sandra." My dad admonished.
"What? She is. After what she did to Ramara, she should be behind bars."
I was shocked that she knew about it.
"What did she do?" Geoff asked carefully, setting his fork down.
Oh no. I looked down at my plate, rolling the peas around.
"It's old news." I said.
"Tell me."
"Well, she almost sold Ramara out to the highest bidder just for a high."
