Chapter Sixty-four [Away from the problems of sexual slavery]
Daniele wishes to adopt the young woman and give her the name Gracia. David decides not to inform Daniele that Gracia has a way of seducing him because she is so desperate to end her suffering. Daniele might be angry with her, which worries David.
Daniele thinks that by expressing compassion and treating someone with regard for their feelings, you may change someone who is bitter and resentful by touching their heart and gradually guiding them toward living a decent life. There are moments when David wonders if what they do to her is good for her and good for them both.
“What would happen if my spouse found out that Gracia had previously been using her tactics as a hoar to act as a villain against her? What if she even ordered me to forget about my wife since she was making out with the guard?”
Now that they have treated Gracias like a member of the family, David is thinking as he watches her naïve demeanor.
