Chapter 13

Drama Queen

Kelvin pov

It's been two days Clara has been away, it felt like months to him. He didn't appreciate her but he feels her absence. Think of it as sick, but he loved their banter and she was way too easy to reel up.

How she got Falze to give him the contract was beyond him, she sure had a lot under her sleeves. He decided to stay home today, he didn't feel like talking with anyone.

But fate was never on his side, he heard footsteps coming to his room. With no doubt he knew it was James, he had to change the locks he thought.

"My, my, my, are you crying" James said throwing a pillow at him.

"Get away"

"It's even worse you are mopping too, I thought you didn't like her.

"Shut up"

"You said she was too stubborn for you"

"Quiet James"

"No need to be angry, if you got feelings for her it's not a crime, I know people who married their employees yours won't be any different."

"I don't have feelings for her alright, will you stop bugging me"

"Whatever, have you had any memories?"

"No, I've been wondering they come once in a while but since she came I haven't had one"

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"

"How am I suppose to know, I guess she doesn't give me the pressure or make me feel incomplete"

"Like she completes you"

"Yes, no, no"

"Which"

"No, no she doesn't"

"Keep denying, your mum passed by the office today."

"And, she only comes when she has a reason"

"That, and I might have told her you are at home"

"You did what? "

"Nothing?"

Kelvin was angry, he wasn't in the mood to deal with his mother. He loves her but she was a drama queen, not to add manipulative. He walked closer to James who took one step back each time.

"I didn't say it intentionally, you know"

"Really.. " the door bell stopped his movement.

"If that is her, you are dead"

James gulped at the threat. Kelvin wasn't one to give empty promises. The last time he promised him a broken nose and he delivered.

He stomped his feet to the door, opening it to reveal his mother. He quickly schooled his anger to a grin.

"Hi, mum"

"Don't give that Kelvin you have been avoiding me." she said inviting herself inside, she faced him with a hands on her hip and a glare. He would have been afraid with the stance she took, but not anymore.

"I haven't ma, I have been busy"

"Busy to return my call or come visit me." she said approaching him on the sofa. He looked at his aging mother, born from a high class family, she always carried that grace. He loved the way she always fussed about him, but he was getting tired of it. He was a grown man for peter's sake, can't she understand it and stop manipulating him.

"I called dad two days ago, you refused to speak with me remember?"

"I was having my spa time, and you know I don't answer phone calls at time."

"Fine, why are you here"

"Hi Brenda, am off Kelvin" He ran out of the house.

"Can't I check on my son again"

With that she started crying. He rolled his eyes at her. He had a lot to do, he couldn't handle her drama.

"Am sorry mum, but why are you here"

"My son can't stand my guts, what did I do to deserve such treatment from by son I cherish so much. " she continued crying, he sat close to her to hug her.

"Fine" she wiped her tears. "I heard you have a new assistant"

"Yes and? "

"I want to see her"

"Why"

"Because she is working with you and I want to ask her, few questions. I also want to confirm the rumors."

"What rumours"

"That you are having an affair with her. I tell you if it's true you better end it, she is bad news"

He looked at his mother, whose face was clear of tears. She never seize to surprise him.

"And if I was, I am old enough to make my decision"

"Of course, but you are blind to see trouble when it's stares at you."

"Mum, she is no trouble in fact she has been very helpful."

"I knew you will never believe me, that's okay, but I will prove to you who she really is"

"It's not.. "

She raised her hand to silence him. "Am leaving" he got up to follow her but she shook her head at him to sit.

"I can show myself out"

He watch her leave, what made her think Clara was a threat or was this her scheme to control him he couldn't tell. There was the rumors also, why would they think that when he doesn't see her that way.

Really, so how do you explain your jealousy when James asked her out.

"No I wasn't" he taught back. He looked at the time realizing he had slipped breakfast. He got his car keys, he would have to go have something. If only Clara was here, she would have prepare something delicious. He smiled at the taught, but he would be damned to let her know.
