Chapter Thirty-One

I stood in the bathroom staring blankly into the eyes of a girl. A girl I knew nothing about. At least I thought I did. She stared right back at me with these sad eyes that told a whole shit load of stories. A dull shade of grey, a dull shade of her life.

She copied my movements to the latter. If I blinked she did, if I sighed she followed suite. With shaky hands, I held the scissors up the length of my hair. Instinctively, she copied with precision. The blade of the scissors cut through my hair, the sound of steel hitting steel resonated through the bathroom, Sweet, sweet melody to my ears.

My hair fell effortlessly into the sink, the dark of my hair and the brightness of the tiles gleamed a sharp contrast. Black and white both fighting for dominance.

What's left of my once rapunzel- like hair hung loosely on my head in a boyish cut. I didn't even know why I did it but I needed to get some of this weight off my shoulders.

Ring around the sadness

A heart full of darkness
