Not fated

As Kaden and Gerald made their way, the noise from the crowd slowly receded, replaced by the peaceful ambiance of the open road. As soon as they stepped out of the city, Kaden immediately prepared for what was coming.

The bounty on him was after all 50 silver coins, a big amount to any newbie.

And the moment he stepped outside of the city gates, everyone tracking the bounty would have received notifications about his location.

"Sir, one second. Please forgive me." Kaden gave the old man an awkward smile and the next second, without any warning, he picked up the old man and started running at full speed.

He was carrying the poor guy in a princess style and darted across the lush forest like a bolt of lightning. Gerald let out a startled gasp as Kaden's sudden burst of speed threw him off balance.

"Wha-What's the rush?!" Gerald sputtered, his face pale.

"No time to explain! Hold on tight!" Kaden called over the wind roaring in their ears.
