"I have no idea mom," I pretend.
"You better have no problem, you are still getting your straight A's right?" She asks.
"Yes,"
She leaves without much of a Goodnight. Well,we do not have that affectionate mother and daughter bond.My mother always expected me to be a perfect daughter. Always getting straight A's, no partying, no smoking, drinking alcohol even boyfriends. She has been in the dark about my relationship with Evans ever since we started dating and I would prefer to keep it that way.
The next day I tell Evans and Chloe about what mother told me. The two of them do not seem phased about a single thing. There "nothing bad will happen" we're not comforting me at all but only made me more anxious. Chloe said that if they called in about the break in they would have called her father too. That did make sense since we were together at the crime scene.
Monday morning was here with me sited on a chair across a large wooden desk where the fuming Principal sat in her comfortable big soft chair. Not forgetting an anxious mother to my left.
"Someone broke in to my office on Friday night. Do you know who did it,Rebecca?" She asks not losing eye contact from me.
"N-no mam," I lie.
She turns to my mother and reaches for something in her locker. The principal pulls out an envelope and reaches for whatever is inside. My heart beat twice the normal rate as her hand entered the envelope hoping I did not leave any piece of evidence behind.
The principal pulls out a bracelet with my initials on it. She claims that I had intentions of stealing tests before due and was caught by the guard. This was not making any sense to me. The guard saw two people how come Chloe was in the clear. Whatever the case was I was not going to rat out my best friend.
I explained to the principal that I had only come to get back a watch since it held meaning to Chloe.
However, she did not buy my story and uttered five words that shook me.
"You are expelled Rebecca Smith."
Mother kept trying to bargain with the lady but she was to angry or disappointed to barge. On the other hand I was still confused and shocked to speak.
I was a senior year student on my final year to college. How would I get a new school.
"You have crossed the line Rebecca Joey Smith, wait till your father hears about this," mother storms out of the office.
Walking through the hallways I hear a bit of chatting in the computer laboratory.
"How could you?"
"I had to,we love each other and she was an obstacle," The two voices sounded familiar. No it could not be. I slightly opened the door and saw the two of them, Chloe and Evans.
"Besides, you said you felt like she were an obligation since you could not break her heart after her parents separated 5 years ago," Chloe states.
I could not believe my eyes and ears. If it were April fools I would assume it were a prank but this was reality.
"I know but I feel bad..." I storm in cutting off Evan's fake speech.
"How did it go..."
"Just stop Evans! I was an obligation," my voice cracked but I stopped my tears from trying to pour down my face.
"I'm so sorry babe," he apologizes.
"Do not babe babe me," I replied.
Chloe just stood by watching everything unfold in her pathetic eyes.
She steps in front of me saying sorry and her sorry face turns in to a wicked grin.
"It's Monday and I promised to introduce you to someone," she taps her head pretending to remember then she walks beside Evans and swiftly kisses his lips.
"Meet my boyfriend,Evans." She finishes.
Evans is being swallowed by guilt but I could care less. All I wanted to do was smack that smile off my ex best friend's face. I had to blow off steam and I did.
As soon as the bell rang I dragged Chloe by her hair to the hallways and smacked her face hard that got tonnes of gasps from the students who had gathered to watch Smack Down for free, live in school. Chloe tried slapping me back but I blocked her and tackled her to the ground punching her face. I had nothing to lose. I took the blame and got expelled only to be betrayed by them.
A few male students separated the fight but not early enough. I had already left a number of bruises and I was not remorseful.Evans went to Chloe to comfort her and I felt a sting in my heart.
Everyone was looking on but I grabbed my bag, flung it on my shoulders and ran out of Blossom high.
I took a cab and told the driver to park somewhere so that I could cry my heart out. At least he was sympathetic and did not chase me out of his car to cry on the streets. Their betrayal cut like a chainsaw on wood. This was officially the most devastating day of my life. It hurt to see Chloe change overnight like I had never known her my entire life.
We were friends since childhood and she broke us because of a boy. All this time Evans did not really like me one bit. He fixed up the broken pieces only to shatter them again.
It is six o'clock by the time I get home. My mother welcomes me with annoyance.
"Rebecca, a boy called Evans was here and he said he is your boyfriend,"
"My ex boyfriend," I tell her.
"I told you not to date boys, they will only give you hopes, dreams but will break your heart in the end!" She shouts.
"So what do you prefer then? Should I date girls from now on?" I ask calmly, my voice too tired for her lectures.
"Excuse me," she says.
"Everyone is going to break your heart someday so it does not matter if it is a boy or a girl," I yell in between sobs and run in to my room locking the doors behind me. I throw myself and cry my on my pillow. The tears were fresh like I never cried today. The walls were slowly closing up on me.it was too much to handle.
