Diagnostic examination

After drawing blood, Dr. Sibley left with two nurses.

"Elmer, goodbye," Mona turned her head and said, her face slightly red, her body temperature a bit high, her heart beating irregularly. It seemed that she had really fallen in love with Elmer.

If Mona knew that Elmer was now a bloodthirsty vampire, what choice would she make?

"Mom, are you okay?" Elmer sat by her bed, looking at his mother who had sacrificed so much for their family, feeling a pang of pain in his heart. From now on, he would take good care of his mother!

"I had a nightmare that you turned into a devil," Margaret covered her forehead. She didn't know if the repeated images in her mind were real or not, with blood everywhere, Elmer commanding her and growing black wings.

Margaret shook her head, and when she moved her body, she felt a sharp pain in her vagina.

"It's normal to have nightmares when you're sick. Since you know it's a nightmare, why think about it? Look at me, I'm sitting here just fine. So Mom, don't worry. When we're discharged, the three of us will still taste your delicious cooking. Let me tell you, the first meal we have at home, I'm going to eat fried lobster," Elmer smiled with narrowed eyes, trying to dispel the gloom in Margaret's heart.

Although they had already had sex, she thought it was a dream, which might make it easier for her to accept.

"I don't know when I can be discharged. Huh? Lin, why are you wearing this clothes?"

"It's nothing. I'm going to see Dr. Sibley and ask when you can be discharged. Mom is waiting here," Elmer glanced at the somewhat forlorn Margaret and turned and left the ward.

In front of Dr. Sibley's office, Elmer saw her looking at a sheet of paper through the hanging window. Her eyebrows were almost furrowed together.

"Strange, how could this be?" Dr. Sibley was puzzled by the test report. He heard a knock on the door and said without looking up, "Come in."

The door opened and Elmer walked in. His sharp eyes immediately noticed his mother's name on the test report. It must be hers.

"Dr. Sibley, how is my mother? When will the surgery take place?" Elmer asked as he walked up to the desk. His gaze followed the outline of Dr. Sibley's breasts, which couldn't be grabbed by one hand.

"Oh, please sit down, please. I'm really surprised that Margaret's cancer is gone. From a medical perspective, this is simply impossible. And--"

Seeing Elmer still standing there, Dr. Sibley gestured for him to sit down. "And your mother's platelet count is completely off the charts. It's very strange."

Seeing Dr. Sibley acting a little crazy, Elmer asked, "I know having more platelets means wounds will clot faster. Is there a problem with that too?"

"Oh, no, that's not what I meant. What I mean is that Margaret's platelet count is very high, which surprised me. Let me explain the process of wound healing to you. When a person is injured, platelets clot the wound to stop bleeding, while T cells, B cells, and macrophages produce humoral immunity and cellular immunity functions to prevent viruses and bacteria from invading. The body detects the command of trauma in various forms, and cells near the wound begin to divide, growing new cells based on their own DNA and instructions. Then the wound heals."

"When can my mother be discharged from the hospital?" Elmer was more concerned about this topic.

He didn't want his mother to stay in the hospital for too long and have a full-body examination that would reveal she's a vampire. That would be disastrous.

"I suggest staying in the hospital for a few more days of observation to prevent any unexpected incidents," Doctor Sibley advised.

"It's okay, if anything happens, I'll contact you first. Can you give me your number so I can reach you for the discharge procedures?"

"Are you sure you don't want to stay in the hospital?"

"This is what my mother wants. My sisters and I need to take care of her at home. We can't afford to be without her," Elmer explained.

"Alright then," Doctor Sibley nodded and handed his first business card to Elmer.

"Goodbye," Elmer glanced at the card and saw the name, Doctor Sibley.

"It's strange, why would the platelet count suddenly increase?" Sibley was very frustrated. His previous medical knowledge could not explain it.

Perhaps it was cancer cells that caused the sudden increase in platelets. Sibley could only console himself with this hypothesis.

After completing the discharge procedures for his mother, Elmer left the hospital with her. It was better to spend less time in this place of controversy.

When they returned home, Rita and Nydia, who had been anxiously waiting on the sofa, hurried over.

"Mommy!"

The little girl Nydia rushed into Margaret's arms, unable to control her tears. She sobbed, "Mommy - I missed you - you can't leave us - I want Daddy - wuwuwu."

Elmer stared at his sister Rita and mouthed, "Did you tell Nydia?"

Rita nodded, wanting to explain but feeling it was not the right time.

"Nydia, Mommy is very tired. Let her go to the room to rest first. Be good," Elmer patted Nydia's head.

"I want to sleep with Mommy," Nydia, who had just entered her first year of middle school, was still very attached to Margaret. She became fragile and wanted to cry when she didn't see Margaret for one night.

"Nydia, Mommy will take you back to the room to sleep," Margaret smiled kindly and took Nydia's little hand to walk into the bedroom.

After they entered, Elmer asked Rita, "Didn't I tell you to take good care of Nydia? How could you talk about our parents' situation?"

"I didn't mean to!" Rita stomped her foot and snorted, "I talked in my sleep last night! Is it wrong for me to talk in my sleep?"

"Did you go to the hospital the night before yesterday?"

Elmer asked urgently.

"What the hell! My sister was crying all the time, how could I have gone?" Rita shook her head and left.

"Then who was that person?" Elmer wondered aloud.
