An Siyao's Performance

The two of them started looking at other children.

Normally, adoption is a longer process, where the adopters would interact with the child at least three times to determine if the child's temperament matches their preferences. They might even take the child out to play a few times to get to know them better.

However, this orphanage was an exception. Both caretakers would provide notes on all the children's temperaments, significantly reducing the hassle for adopters. That's why many would decide to adopt after just one interaction.

The couple had come from a distant town and didn't want to spend too much time assessing the children's personalities, so they chose this orphanage.

A staff member accompanied them, and anytime they showed interest in a child, the staff would relay the caretaker's notes without showing them the record directly.

They looked at several children who were all quite good, but they had a soft spot for Tina. Any child that originally satisfied them now seemed insufficient.

The two discussed in a corner and decided to randomly choose one among the three decent children.

However, it was a pity because Tina was genuinely beautiful.

Both of them were members of an appearance-focused group, so they couldn't help but ask the staff about Tina, who was also excellent in terms of temperament.

They couldn't help but look at Tina again, and this glance made them pause.

Why was that child walking towards them?

Naturally, this was Xia Yu's doing.

Holding onto Tina's skirt, Xia Yu dragged her out from the clutches of the three competing families.

All three families seemed wealthy, but one of them gave the cat a bad feeling, and the other two had children already.

Having children brought uncertainty. Even if the parents liked Tina, who knew if their children would? If conflicts arose, who would suffer?

Xia Yu didn't plan to use this white cat body for long. Once he had upgraded his mental connection ability to Lv1, he wouldn't visit often, unable to protect Tina anymore.

He had also eavesdropped on the couple's situation earlier. They had no children, the wife was a police officer, and the husband was a doctor, both with stable jobs.

Especially the husband, who was the director of the town hospital. With his connections, getting the child a back door entry into the hospital would be easy.

Life in a small town was also more comfortable than in a big city.

In particular, Xia Yu noticed that the couple was fond of Tina and kept sneaking glances at her.

Pulling Tina in front of the couple, Xia Yu meowed, breaking the silence.

"Hello." Tina greeted the couple shyly with Xia Yu in her arms.

As the husband hesitated, the wife had already squatted down, smiling at Tina, "Hello, your name is Tina, right?"

"Uh-huh." Tina nodded. She was just cautious, not as slow as An Siyao, and she could tell that Xia Yu wanted her to choose the couple in front of her.

Hesitating for a moment, she took the initiative to start a conversation.

"Do you want to pet the kitty?" She handed Xia Yu to the wife.

"???"

Seeing Tina take the initiative to interact, Xia Yu was somewhat relieved. However, now the girl was using him to build rapport with others?

Am I such an easy-going cat?

Compared to Xia Yu, the couple was much more surprised. The reason they did not choose Tina was because they felt she wouldn't like them, but now it seemed that there was a great chance?

The two began to chat happily with Tina, talking about the swing in the backyard, the small river at the door, and the woods on the edge of the town, which was more appealing to Tina than the garden, dance studio, amusement park and yacht mentioned by the previous three families.

At noon, the three of them went to the office of the old dean, who was also the administrator, to fill out the application form.

The old administrator was surprised and didn't expect Tina to follow this family. The staff who came with her explained the situation, and then she knew that it was all thanks to Xia Yu.

When stamping the documents, the old administrator glanced at Xia Yu and said, "This cat came with Tina. If it's not convenient for you to keep it, you can leave it here."

"Meow meow meow?"

Xia Yu looked at the old administrator incredulously: You're actually trying to take away the cat that saved your life?

Fortunately, the couple didn't agree: "It's fine, having a cat at home is quite lively."

The old administrator sighed. She had been in the front yard in the morning and clearly saw Xia Yu knocking over the flowerpot and blaming it on the two naughty kids. Based on previous examples, she had already regarded Xia Yu as a spiritual cat.

Never mind, an ownerless spiritual cat might even have adverse effects if kept.

She held Xia Yu in her arms and stroked him until both had completed all formalities and were about to leave with Tina. Then she reluctantly let go of Xia Yu.

Xia Yu quickly jumped onto the bus and hid.

The bus stopped in front of a nearby hotel, and the three people and one cat got into their own car and returned to the small town.

After they got off the bus, Xia Yu's game time was over, and he returned to his own body.

If nothing unexpected happened, he would still need to visit the white cat a few more times and check on Tina.

He hadn't yet gained the white cat's telepathic perception, and to level up, he needed to sense a large number of different people.

Xia Yu had already sensed about two hundred people, but this was only achieved by sneaking out a few times.

To reach level 1, he would need about one thousand people, which would be easy in Area 1. In a larger area with more people, it would only take eight hours to accomplish, but he was in Area 2.

In that ghostly place, a decent-sized supermarket couldn't even gather twenty people.

He hoped that Tina's new home would not be too far from the school. Even in Area 2, the population in the school should be guaranteed, right?

Actually, if he went to the urban commercial area, Xia Yu could also obtain many people, but the distance was not short, and he couldn't use a taxi app in Area 2.

Putting down the matter of the white cat, Xia Yu looked to his right front. An Siyao and her teacher were sitting there.

This teacher was An Siyao's piano teacher. Since An Siyao had already reached the level of graduation, Xia Yu hadn't met her when he was in An Siyao's body.

Perhaps sensing Xia Yu's gaze, the girl turned her head and swept her eyes towards the back.

Xia Yu calmly looked elsewhere.

An Siyao's gaze stayed on Xia Yu for a moment.

Previously, among all the competitors, the one who made her feel the most uneasy was Xia Yu. He had just shown off his extraordinary skills, and his performance on the violin had even tied the world record, drawing too much attention.

She knew that the "him" inside her body was not a genuine music lover, so even though her skills were much higher, she still felt a bit unsettled, worried about who "he" would be interested in. Later on, she indirectly asked about this matter and breathed a sigh of relief after receiving the response that "he" didn't care about Xia Yu. But now, Xia Yu had revealed his skills in playing the guzheng.

He had just displayed his exceptional talent in three instruments - although his piano skills were a bit inadequate, he had tied the world record in violin, and his guzheng skills were at the level of a successor in a certain school. This was a naturally born media sensation, and it was just too easy to catch people's eyes.

An Siyao fell into doubt once again. "He" wasn't interested in the violin, but what about the guzheng?

Thinking that "his" attention might be diverted to Xia Yu, even though Xia Yu was a man, An Siyao still felt somewhat displeased. At least in this competition, "his" attention should be all hers!

She daringly and slightly glared at Xia Yu, then quickly looked away.

"Yao Yao, it's your turn," her teacher beside her reminded An Siyao. "Are you still feeling unwell?"

"No, I'm much better now." An Siyao stood up and walked quickly towards the backstage.

After the contestant on stage finished, she entered the stage.

Sitting in front of the piano and recalling that "he" said he would watch the live broadcast on TV, An Siyao gave a smile to the camera and pressed the piano keys.

The piece she played was called "Fine Snow."
