Ambushed and Snowed

"Wait, what have I done for you to arrest me?" Xia Dongyang still had a glimmer of hope in his heart.

He believed that Xia Nianhong and Xia Ye wouldn't report him to the police for stealing 80,000 yuan when they had lost more than two million from him over the years without any problems.

"You know what you did yesterday afternoon," said the two policemen hurriedly as they came from their home without any equipment. They held Xia Dongyang and headed toward the police station.

On the way, Xia Dongyang saw Xia Yu and the suitcase in his hand.

"Hey, how is my suitcase with you!" Xia Dongyang couldn't believe it. He had hidden it so well, and the town was so big, so how did Xia Yu find it?

"Not only did I find your suitcase, I also found you," Xia Yu sneered, "You are such a loser, you can't even steal something properly."

"How dare you say that!" Xia Dongyang's mind flashed the images of the three small slopes, and he understood.

"You tricked me!" With one forceful effort, he broke free from the two policemen and charged towards Xia Yu.

However, his outburst was useless. Xia Yu grabbed his fist, kicked his leg, and pressed him to the ground.

"You're terrible at fighting too," Xia Yu sighed.

The two policemen hurried up and caught Xia Dongyang again.

They hadn't expected Xia Dongyang to try to escape, so they hadn't used force before. After being caught, Xia Dongyang breathed a sigh of relief.

He had just acted impulsively. In his previous life, he had realized that he was no match for Xia Yu.

So after being pressed to the ground by Xia Yu, he was terrified, afraid that Xia Yu might hit him hard. Luckily, the police were present, so Xia Yu didn't dare to make a move.

Xia Dongyang felt that as long as he was obedient, he wouldn't have any trouble.

After all, he was also a member of the Xia family.

At this point, his pride emerged.

He asked the two policemen, "Comrades, can you give me a mosaic, or rather, put a mask on my face?"

The two policemen looked at Xia Yu, who asked Yuxue to go to the nearby field and pick up a white plastic bag.

Xia Yu took the plastic bag and put it on Xia Dongyang himself.

The plastic bag was thick, and its transparency was low. After Xia Dongyang put it on, his face was half hidden, and others couldn't recognize him.

Xia Yu was not helping Xia Dongyang, but rather, trying to avoid the nagging of the gossipy women in the town.

With the plastic bag on his head, Xia Dongyang bent over and made a hunched appearance.

The two policemen couldn't help but laugh.

When they reached the town, Xia Yu separated from Yuxue and the other three. It wouldn't sound good for a son and daughter to be seen with police pressing their father.

They returned home and handed the suitcase to Xia Nianhong.

Taking the money, Xia Nianhong breathed a sigh of relief.

This was their last savings.

Without this money, they would only have a shop in the town and a house, which wouldn't be reassuring.

"Is that guy in the police station?" Xia Nianhong asked Xia Yu, hesitating in her eyes.

Xia Yu understood the meaning, that she didn't want to pursue the matter further.

"Yuxue and I have discussed going to Lishan for a trip, we were supposed to leave last night, but now that the money is found, we will go." Xia Yu said and left Xia Dongyang's matter for the two elders to handle on their own.

"Alright, you two should get going." Xia Nianhong sighed with relief. She and her husband knew each other well; they didn't mind showing their soft side to each other. If Xia Yu and Yuxue had been present, they would have had to maintain the grand and just image of their grandparents.

"We'll send you off first and let that bastard stay at the police station." Xia Nianhong helped Xia Yu and Yuxue pack their things, while Xia Ye went downstairs to get a bag of local products for Xia Yu to take with them.

They waited by the roadside for ten minutes before a car arrived to take them to Ziling. Before boarding, Xia Nianhong stuffed a roll of money into Xia Yu and Yuxue's pockets.

Once on the car, Xia Yu looked at the money - 5,000 yuan. Yuxue also checked and found she had 5,000 yuan, too.

The girl handed the money to Xia Yu.

"You keep it for yourself." Xia Yu said.

After happily accepting the money, Yuxue started to calculate how much she had in her little savings.

The two previous payments for Black Cat's appearances totaled 10,000 yuan, which were all in her possession.

Ten thousand, plus five thousand, added to what her brother had given her before, as well as the grocery money, she now had 17,452.30 yuan!

What could she do with this money?

The girl fell into a dilemma.

"By the way, after Black Cat's appearances, did no one come looking for more shoots?" Xia Yu asked Yuxue. The previous two episodes had already aired, and Black Cat's fame should have expanded further.

"There were two, but because my brother was busy, we turned them down." Yuxue could distinguish that even though Black Cat was quite smart in general, he couldn't compare to when he was shooting.

In between, her brother must have used some kind of method.

Without asking, Yuxue glanced at Xia Yu. Her brother had reached an age where he should have his own little secrets.

She sighed and turned to look at the scenery outside.

This kind of landscape with fields on both sides was something you couldn't see in the city.

They returned to Ziling, went home for a short visit, quickly prepared their things, and boarded a bus to the city next door.

Xia Yu wanted to take a taxi directly, but Yuxue rejected the idea, saying it was too wasteful.

The bus wouldn't take too long.

By one in the afternoon, they arrived at the hotel at the foot of Lishan Mountain.

After checking in, Yuxue excitedly took out her phone, and pulled Xia Yu up the mountain.

Xia Yu glanced at the girl's phone. It was a phone he had bought for her when he first got the game, costing only a little over a thousand yuan.

There was a mobile phone store nearby, but Yuxue probably didn't want to spend the money. He'd have to buy her a better one later, without her knowing.

He could also buy Yuxue a better camera; even though she didn't seem to have any talent for it, money could make up for the lack of talent.

In his previous life, Xia Yu knew a photographer who wasn't particularly skilled but often won city and provincial-level awards - not necessarily because of his expensive equipment, but more because of the locations he chose.

Ordinary photographers would go to great lengths to take a beautiful photo, but he would simply spend money to go straight to Antarctica.

Could the beautiful sceneries on land and underwater compare to Antarctica?

As long as the technique wasn't utterly terrible, the latter photos were bound to look better.

In this society, there were many shortcuts; as long as you had the money, they were open to you.

Taking pictures along the way, Xia Yu and Yuxue visited Lishan Temple on the mountainside to light incense and buy protective amulets.

Unlike the Xianfeng Temple's amulets that featured floral and leaf patterns, the Lishan Temple's amulets were adorned with various fruit patterns.

Yuxue chose two of them - one with an orange pattern and the other with a pear pattern.

Back at the hotel, she gave the pear-pattern amulet to Xia Yu.

"What does it mean?" Xia Yu asked, taking the amulet.

"This is a whole pear, which means inseparable," Yuxue explained, showing her own orange-patterned amulet. "The orange symbolizes luck, so this one is for good fortune!"

Xia Yu accepted the amulet and they enjoyed the night view on the mountain. Eventually, Xia Yu waited until Yuxue fell asleep.

It was time to make a move.
