Abel let out a deep sigh as he slowly made his way inside his home. It was already late, and he suspected that his dear wife, Dani, was already asleep. It was another night of torment, lying beside his wife in the same bed, yet restraining himself from touching her.

It would have been so much simpler to lie and simply tell her that he already loved her, and yet Dani was too precious to him for lies. He knew that dishonesty could easily shatter the foundation of their budding relationship.

Love… He wondered if he would ever even develop that kind of feeling after the traumatic experience he had with Rosela. Yet he was quite aware of how Dani was different from Rosela, and how Dani was someone deserving to receive genuine love from him. Still, something held him back. For some reason, he feared allowing his heart to fully embrace a woman again, even though he continuously reminded himself that Dani was profoundly different and would never inflict harm upon him.
