Chapter 148- Formation
He sat on the floor and stared at Long Feng with an expression which was uglier than crying.
"Brother Long Feng, just one is already a thorn at my side, yet you went ahead and brought another one? Do you really want to see me dead?"
He ignored the icy gaze behind him and spoke a few more words. The next moment, his grieving expression vanished, replaced by a mischievous grin.
He leaned closer to Long Feng.
"Brother Long Feng, your methods and charm leave me in awe. Tell me what secret you used t....?"
"Get lost. Miss Li didn't beat you up well enough" Long Feng kicked him away without letting him finish his words.
Yan Jian laughed but soon calmed down. Suddenly, his body froze as he stared at Hua Liuli weirdly.
"You... What did you say your name is?" He asked in an absentminded tone.
"Hua Liuli. Why?" Hua Liuli looked at him curiously.
"Hua Liuli!" Yan Jian's eyes widened and he jerked up to his feet abruptly as though he was injected with boiling hot chicken blood. He pointed a shaky finger at Hua Liuli.
"Youngest princess of the Yihua family's Hua clan? You're that Hua Liuli?"
Hua Liuli curled her lips. "What if I'm the one, and what if I'm not?"
Yan Jian shook his head and sat back down.
"Nothing! Nothing" One could obviously notice the sweat gathering on his forehead.
"You're a princess of the Hua clan?" Long Feng asked Hua Liuli with a strange expression. He had guessed that Hua Liuli's background was very powerful but he never expected that she was a princess of the Hua clan. In the whole continent, the Hua clan was at the very top!
"What? Afraid to be seen with me suddenly?" Hua Liuli pouted.
"Me? Afraid? Humph. You look down on me" Long Feng rolled his eyes.
"I'm just curious as to why the princess of a hegemon force like the Yihua family's Hua clan would sneak away from the clan and roam around on her own"
"What do you know? Those old farts locked me up in the clan and wouldn't let me take half a step outside. It was so suffocating. Always being followed by a group of hefty men as guards is not fun at all. If I had stayed in that place for a little bit longer, I'm afraid I might have gone insane!" Hua Liuli replied in an aggrieved and pitiful tone.
"oh well. That's your problems anyway. I'm not interested in your clan's affairs." Long Feng shrugged and settled back to cultivate.
"Coward. You sound just like grandpa. Humph!" Hua Liuli stomped off and went over to Li Yu'er's side.
"All of you are so boring. I will only speak with big sister Li Yu'er henceforth!"
Yan Jian felt his brows twitching at her words.
[we are boring? Then what is she?] He glanced at Li Yu'er then back at Hua Liuli weirdly before shaking his head.
[women are really weird].
The place soon descended into silence as hundreds of people were scattered around a pond. Hours flowed by and the faint fragrance emitted by the Yin essence purity flower slowly became denser, to the extent that just by breathing in the fragrance, one would feel his cultivation increase ever so slightly. This prompted many people to crazily cultivate during this period of time.

Two days later, the Yin essence purity flower suddenly shook. Yin energy gushed towards it crazily and it became a shade darker than before under the influx of so much Yin energy.
This change was naturally noticed by everyone present and they all stopped cultivating and stared on with heated gazes. They could all tell that the Yin essence purity flower was finally going to fully mature.
The Yin essence purity flower shook again and the Yin energy calmed down. Everywhere fell silent again. But everyone knew that this was just the calm before the storm.
After a moment of silence, over a dozen juniors with cultivation ranging from the mid Yin level to the peak Yin level suddenly shot forward almost simultaneously. They reached the pond in the blink of an eye and were about to leap over when a sharp hiss sounded.
Immediately after, a long streak of light whizzed over and smashed into the group of juniors. A low explosion sounded and the group of juniors instantly burst into blood mists!
Many people sucked in mouthfuls of cold breaths at the sight of this ruthlessness.
"Ghost python huh?" Long Feng's eyes narrowed as he muttered. he had barely managed to catch a glimpse of what that streak of light was. It was actually a long tail!
If he had to guess, then he felt that it was the so called ghost python. This beast obviously wasn't to be underestimated because killing over a dozen Yin level cultivators in an instant was a hard feat even for low leveled Yang cultivators. Only mid leveled Yang cultivators and above could do this.
"This is going to be problematic" even he felt that their chances of obtaining this spirit herb was disheartening.
This first group's death obviously had a deterring effect on the juniors gathered here. The weird silence ensued for a few more minutes, before Gu yuan suddenly stepped forward and spoke in a loud voice,
"Everyone, as you can all see, this ghost python is not an easy opponent and even all of us combined might not be able to stop it. Individually, all of us stand no chance at all."
"Gu yuan, don't beat around the bush. Tell us if you have a suggestion." A blue clothed youth at the forefront of the crowd spoke with an impatient frown on his face. His cultivation was impressively at the rank two Yang level. And even Gu yuan didn't seem to want to argue with him. He obviously had a strong backing himself.
Some people nodded in agreement to his words and many gazes were cast at Gu yuan.
"Very well. This Gu does have a suggestion but I wonder if all of you will be willing to work together?" Gu yuan asked.
"Get to the point and stop talking circles like a female!" Some people shouted. There were quite a huge number of females here, at least numbering close to five hundred. Therefore, the speakers instantly received numerous cold glares.
"Ehem." Gu yuan cleared his throat before speaking, "I know a certain formation which can restrict the ghost python for a few minutes. It could be less, but even a few breaths of time is enough for us to snatch the spirit herb and flee. But the formation is too taxing on me and the current me cannot set it up. Therefore, I need all of you to channel your inner energy into the formation to powder it after I finish setting it up" he explained.
"A formation?" nobody present doubted him because they all knew that Gu yuan's soul power was at the third heaven layer. It wasn't weird for him to have such powerful formation when his clan was also considered.
"we only need to channel our energy?" someone asked.
"Yes." Gu yuan nodded.
"But how do we share the spirit herb if so many people participate?"
This question was what was on many people's minds.
Gu yuan simply smiled after hearing the question.
"Let's leave that issue for after we take the spirit herb" he replied.
Though unsettled, nobody brought up that question again.
"I'll take it as you all agree to help. Good. Let me begin setting up the formation." Gu yuan nodded as he sat down cross legged on the floor. A glint flashed past his eyes as he sat down while a cunning expression surfaced on his face.
Soul power gushed out of his body the next moment. His soul power was one level above Long Feng and Hua Liuli; he was at the third heaven layer.
He began to make hand seals while runes began to condense around him, making for a complex yet mysterious sight. This went on for almost two hours while Gu yuan's face became as pale as sheet after these two hours. One could tell that the formation really placed a burden on him.
Meanwhile, the soul power runes floating around him all landed on the floor in an orderly fashion. The outline of a formation soon appeared and the core of the formation was beneath him.
"I need someone to lure out the ghost python!" Gu yuan suddenly shouted.
Many people's expression instantly became wonderful. Who would want to take the risk of luring out a beast which was probably at the spirit level? Wasn't that simply seeking death?
