Over the last three weeks, not a single night had passed without the two of them spending time together. Sometimes Walter joined them, sometimes he went and did things with other people.
Not all of the time was spent naked, of course. They went to the movies, they talked. They laughed and they shared stories.
“I came here with nothing,” Harley said. “I kind of just showed up with nothing. Had to do a little bit of criminal actions to be able to set myself up.”
“Criminal actions? What sort? Did you kill someone?”
“No,” Harley said. “I’ve never killed anyone, I don’t think. I just kind of, um, robbed people.”
“Where did you sleep when you first arrived?”
“In a hotel bathroom,” Harley said, laughing. “It wasn’t comfortable, but at least it was safe. I paid for it with stolen credit cards. Convinced someone to pay for my stay while I got established.”
“That is normal. Nothing to be ashamed of.”
“I’m not used to being outside the law like that. It just felt wrong, you know?”
