Chapter 24: Twice is a Coincidence

Jonathan hadn’t made any other moves, as far as they could tell. But his one move had said a lot, and so maybe it would be good to see if he was going to continue along that vein. He’d killed the first person Harley had spent any time with. Maybe he’d continue.

“So who did you spend time with after poor Donald?” Marian asked.

“What, you think he’s going to follow my track and kill everyone I’ve spoken to in the last five years before coming after me directly?” Harley snorted with laughter.

Marian looked at her and raised an eyebrow.

Then the laughter died. “Oh my god,” Harley said. “Do you think he’s going to follow my trail and kill everyone I’ve spoken to in the last FIVE YEARS?”

If she needed to breathe, she would have hyperventilated.

Marian put a hand on her shoulder. “Calm down, ma cherie. We do not know that he is doing that. But if he is? Well, it would be good to know, would it not?”
