It was still early, barely nine pm, when they arrived at Jenny’s house. It was late enough that Jonathan would be awake and active, but he wasn’t there yet. He might be on his way.
“There’s not much time,” Harley said as they drove around the house. “She’s home, I can see the news on the television. In twenty minutes, she’ll turn it off and go to bed. She’ll read a book for maybe another half hour after she does her daily skin routine. By ten thirty, she’ll be asleep.”
“So he should be here sometime between now and then.”
“So what do we do? Do we go inside and wait for him to come to the door? Attack him when he thinks he’s attacking her? Do we wait until he thinks he has her under control?” Harley looked out the window of the car, trying to spot Jonathan. What kind of car would he be driving? Would he take an Uber?
“Maybe we go in and hide in her bedroom,” Marian said. “Wait for him to be distracted with her, and then you attack him while I save her.”
