It's not love

[PRESENT TIME]

Heaven stood on the balcony with a glass of wine in her hand. She hid her body in a night robe, staring at the garden from her vantage point. The soft breeze of the night brushed her cheeks, making the stray hair from her updo sway.

"I'm home."

The corner of her mouth curled up as she glanced over her shoulder. Dominic slowly slipped his hands around her body, hugging her from behind. He planted a kiss on her cheek before resting his head on her shoulder.

"You came home a little later than usual," she pointed out, and he smiled.

"Am I in for a long explanation?" he humored, earning a chuckle from her.

"No need. I know campaign periods can be a little overwhelming."

"Oh?" Dominic's brows rose. "Speaking from experience?"

"I never ran for any government position. Too busy for that. But according to the people I know, they'd rather go on a different mission than go through it again."
